    • A wall or roof of a trailer are formed from a first panel and a second panel which are joined together by a cap and a strip which interengage. The cap includes a base wall and an interlock provided thereon. The base wall abuts the outer surfaces of the panels. The strip includes a base wall and an interlock provided thereon. The strip and cap are separate members. The base wall of the strip abuts the inner surfaces of the panels. The interlock of the strip and the interlock of the cap mate together to form a joint. At least one of the interlocks extend between the panels. The panels may be composite panels or may be from a single sheet or multiple sheets of metal. An adhesive may be provided between the base wall of the cap and the outer surfaces, and an adhesive may be provided between the base wall of the strip and the inner surfaces.

The dual-channel communications link includes a data channel used for sending and receiving data or code and a command channel for sending and receiving command and status information.     • A method and apparatus for identifying one or more characteristics of a networked device, such as a client modem, is disclosed. Values of one or more components of a signal from an unknown device are compared to values of the same components of signals from known devices. Matches determined by this comparison identify characteristics, such as the manufacturer, of the unknown devices to be the same as characteristics of the matched known devices. The comparison values are determined by receiving signals from known devices, and identifying and cataloging values of the one or more signal components in association with characteristics of the known devices. The identified characteristics are stored and later can be accessed or manipulated to derive additional information, such as statistical information based on the characteristics identified for multiple unknown devices.

    • Methods, media gateways, and computer program products are described associated with call redundancy for a packet-based network. The described call redundancy involves a receiver module in communication with the packet-based network adapted to receive or transmit data associated with a plurality of calls from one or more signaling links. The data includes signaling information based on a publicly-switched telephone network (“PSTN”) standard. A first processor module is in communication with the receiver module and is adapted to process the data associated with the plurality of calls. A second processor module is in communication with the receiver module and the first processor module. The second processor module is adapted to receive at least a portion of the data associated with the plurality of calls. At least a portion of data maintained on the second processor module is synchronized with the corresponding data processed by the first processor module.

    • Early authentication processing uses the manufacture defined (“MD”) sequence made available by communication protocols during the Layer 1 training stage of a communications connection process to initiate an authentication request signal. The authentication request information typically comprises a username and a password than can be used to verify the identify of the requester. Additionally, processing of an authentication request during the a communications connection process is provided. The processing comprises receiving an authentication request signal, during the manufacturer defined sequence portion of Layer 1 training, from a communications connection sender process and initiating authentication based upon the authentication request signal. Acknowledgment signals can be sent between the initiator and receiver such that each can be assured that the other received the appropriate information.
