    • A wet type developing apparatus is disclosed which can eliminate the need to provide a separately built cleansing unit and, moreover, makes it unnecessary to dismount a developer supply unit for its cleansing operation and to perform its subsequent re-mounting operation.The apparatus in which a developing roller 2 is in rotational contact with a rotating photoconductor drum 1 and an electrostatic latent image made on a surface of the photoconductor drum is developed with a liquid developer 6 supplied onto the developing roller from a developer supply roller 3 whose surface is in part immersed in the liquid developer reserved in a developer reservoir 5, includes a cleansing arrangement, comprising a unit or units 7 and/or 8, which is disposed at a site in the developer reservoir which is always immersed in the liquid developer for cleansing a portion of the developer supply roller which is immersed in the liquid developer.

    • A wet type developing apparatus is provided which allows printing in a quality that is stable at an increased printing speed and also with changes in physical property of a liquid developer. The wet type developing apparatus to this end includes a liquid developer feed pathway which comprises a developing roller 7 for feeding the liquid developer onto a photoconductor drum 3; an anilox roller 9 immersed in part in the liquid developer and driven to rotate in rotational contact with the developing roller; and a doctor blade 11 disposed in contact with a surface of the anilox roller for controlling the rate of drawing up of the liquid developer. The developing and anilox rollers have their peripheral surfaces moving in an identical direction and at an identical rate of movement in an area of their rotational contact. A toner charger 12 is disposed opposite to a surface of the anilox roller downstream of an area of contact of the doctor blade with the anilox roller and upstream of an area of rotational contact of the anilox roller with the developing roller in a rotation direction of the anilox roller.

    • A photoconductor drum cleaning apparatus in an electrophotographic printer is disclosed which is simple in makeup, which allows a wiping roll to be rotated to follow rotation of the photoconductor drum is rotated and to be serviced for a prolonged life and is capable of performing an improved cleaning operation. To this end, the photoconductor drum 1 comprises: disposed in order from upstream in the direction of the photoconductor drum, a blade scraper 11 contacting with the surface of the rotating photoconductor drum and a wiping roll 12 rotating reversely in rubbing contact with the surface of the rotating photoconductor drum; disposed upstream of an area of rubbing contact of the rotating wiping roll with the photoconductor drum, a squeezing roll 13 rotating normally in pressure contact with the surface of the rotating wiping roll; and disposed downstream of an area of rubbing contact of the rotating wiping roll with the photoconductor drum and upstream of the rotating squeeze roll, a brush roll 14 rotating normally or reversely in pressure contact with the surface of the rotating wiping roll, the brush roll having a portion of its outer periphery immersed in a cleaning carrier solution.

    • An electrophotographic printer in which a photoconductor drum and a transfer drum can be supported in a simple component construction and in the makeup free from misalignment and development of thrust load. To this end, an electrophotographic printer comprising a photoconductor drum (1) and a transfer drum (2) is provided in which each of the photoconductor and transfer drums is fitted on a drum body (12, 13) so as to be extractable therefrom towards a front side, the shaft at a back side of the drum body being supported in a cantilever fashion by a bearing unit (16) supported on a main frame (F1) at the back side; the shaft at the front side of the drum body is supported by a movable bearing (17, 18) which comprises a shaft holding cylinder (24) axially extractable from the shaft and a housing (22, 23) supporting the shaft holding cylinder via a bearing (30); two such movable shafts are supported on a swingable frame (21) mounted so as to be swingable on a main frame (F2) at the front side; and the housing (23) of the movable bearing for the transfer drum and the housing (31) of the bearing unit supporting the shaft at the back side of the drum body for the transfer drum are housings decentered from the transfer drum so that angularly displacing the housings makes the transfer drum movable towards and away from the photoconductor drum.
