    • An exhaust gas recirculation system includes a valve body having an exhaust port adapted for fluid communication with a source of exhaust gas, an intake port adapted for fluid communication with the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine, and a valve member. The system further includes a drive member mounted to the valve body and including a mechanical output which is rotatable in opposed first and second directions. A gear train is operatively disposed between and in engagement with the rotatable mechanical output of the drive member and the valve member. More specifically, the mechanical output rotating in either of the first or second directions imparts linear, reciprocal motion directly to the valve member through the gear train thereby moving the valve member between opened and closed positions to control the flow of exhaust gas from the exhaust port to the intake port. In addition, the exhaust gas recirculation system further includes a sensor integrated into the valve body and operatively connected to the valve member for detecting the linear position of the valve member as it is reciprocated between its open and closed positions.

    • A staged carburetor has a body in which a pair of induction passages are formed, an inner passage having a venturi and an outer passage encircling the inner passage. A throttle valve positioned at the outlet of the pair of passages controls the flow of air through the passages. Fuel is delivered to the inner passage through a fuel circuit having an outlet at the venturi. A fuel metering rod extends transversely of the passages and has a variable diameter end portion projecting into the outlet. The metering rod is movable relative to the outlet to vary the quantity of fuel delivered. An air valve positioned in the outer passage normally closes the passage whereby air is initially drawn into the engine only through the inner passage. Increased demand for air by the engine results in opening of the air valve so air is drawn into the engine through both passages. The air valve is linked to the metering rod to move it relative to the outlet as the air valve opens to change the quantity of fuel delivered to the inner passage. The quantity of fuel delivered at any one time mixes with air flowing through the passages at that time to produce an air-fuel mixture whose air-fuel ratio is that necessary for proper operation of the engine.

    • An exhaust gas recirculation system for an internal combustion engine including a valve body having an exhaust port adapted for fluid communication with a source of exhaust gas, an intake port adapted for fluid communication with the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine, and a valve member movably supported within the body between open and closed positions thereby controlling the flow of exhaust gas from the exhaust port to the intake port. A diaphragm housing is operatively mounted to the valve body and supported thereby. The diaphragm housing defines a vacuum cavity in fluid communication with a source of negative pressure and an atmosphere cavity in fluid communication with a source of second pressure. A diaphragm member is disposed between the vacuum and atmosphere cavities and is operatively connected to the valve member. The diaphragm member is movable in one direction in response to negative pressure induced in the vacuum cavity and in the opposite direction in response to a biasing force to move the valve member between its open and closed position. An integrated vacuum regulator is mounted to the system and supported thereby. The vacuum regulator is operable to control the movement of the valve member between its open and closed positions by controlling the negative pressure induced in the vacuum cavity. The system also includes an integrated pressure sensor which senses the difference between the pressure in the vacuum cavity and the pressure at the intake port.

    • A solenoid valve system, wherein the valve member is provided with a seal member disposed thereabout. The solenoid valve is especially suitable for use with exhaust gas recirculation systems. The seal member is operable to slide axially relative to the valve member, including the stem portion thereof. An optional lubricant is provided between the valve member and the seal member so as to provide a relatively low friction environment therebetween when the valve member is in motion. An optional biasable member, in operable association with the seal member, is provided so as to maintain proper positioning of the seal member, e.g., during operation of the solenoid valve system.

    • The present invention relates to a bulk tobacco racking device that is designed to assist in loading and closing a sectional bulk tobacco rack of the type including a generaly U-shaped tine section, an elongated bar section, and a pair of latches that extend from said tine section which are adapted to engage and latch with said elongated bar section. The racking device of the present invention comprises a frame structure having a bottom and a pair of laterally spaced side frame assemblies disposed on opposite sides thereof for receiving respective sections of the rack during the loading and racking operation. At least one of said side frame assemblies is laterally adjustable to assure that the respective rack sections are properly fitted and disposed between the side frame assemblies. Each side frame assembly includes a guide structure for engaging a flange extending from the respective ends of said tine section such that the tine section is maintained in proper alignment as the same is pushed downwardly into engagement with said elongated bar section.
