摘要： An environmental control system providing a healthful environment in an enclosed structure for people living, working, travelling, or spending leisure time in the structure. The environmental control system may include a heating, ventilating and air conditioning unit, for controlling the temperature and humidity of air within the structure and pressurizing the interior of the structure, and an air cleaning system. The air cleaning system preferably includes a pre-filter unit to remove larger particulates, a medium efficient extended surface type filter device for capturing smaller particulates, a chemical and/or activated carbon filter device to provide gas phase air purification and scrubbing, and a high efficient particulate air filter device. If desired, an electronic air filter device can be included. An air quality measuring unit monitors the cleanliness of the air passing from the system. Pressure measuring devices may be installed across each filter unit so that the need to clean or replace a particular filter unit can be determined from a higher than normal pressure drop across the unit.

摘要： An air lock or transition chamber for controlling air pressure during ingress and egress from a multistory building (10) the interior of which is at an elevated air pressure. An elevator car (32) is provided with substantially air-tight seal (38) on its door (36). Persons entering the building pass through an entrance lobby (29) or an underground garage (30) and enter the elevator. These locations are at ambient atmospheric pressure. The elevator doors close and the elevator moves the desired floor (20), which is at an elevated pressure. As the elevator car moves, the pressure within the elevator increases, either substantially to the elevated pressure of the destination or to a pressure between ambient atmosphric pressure and that elevated pressure. Similarly, as the elevator car returns to the floor at ambient atmospheric pressure, the pressure within the elevator car decreases, either substantially to ambient atmospheric pressure or to a pressure between the elevated pressure and ambient atmospheric pressure.

摘要： An environmentally controlled building having a covered atrium. The atrium roof can be a conventional rigid roof or an air-supported, flexible, continuous membrane roof. A pressurization system pressurizes the building interior and the atrium relative to the ambient atmospheric pressure outside the building. When the atrium has a membrane roof, this pressure differential inflates the membrane roof to maintain the roof in the desired configuration. Such a membrane roof can be semi-opaque to permit passage of diffused sunlight, permitting some plants to grow, while inhibiting passage of direct sunlight. Air locks are provided at the building entrances and exits to maintain the pressure differential as people enter and leave the building. A barometric pressure sensor monitors the ambient atmospheric pressure outside the building, and a control unit controls the pressurizing system to adjust the air pressure within the building and the atrium in response to variations in the ambient atmospheric pressure outside the building in an inverse relationship. As a consequence, ambient atmospheric pressure changes are not so noticeable to people within the building and the atrium. This is particularly beneficial to people having arthritis, rheumatism, or other physical conditions. The building heating, air conditioning and ventilating system includes air purification means for removing pollen and other pollutants from the air. The building thus provides a healthful environment for working, living, and leisure activities.

摘要： A fishing apparatus including a light source for illuminating the bait while not scaring fish. Batteries within the handle of a fishing rod are connected by electrically conductive fishing line to a light source positioned to shine onto the bait within the water. In one embodiment, the light source emits ultraviolet light and the bait exhibits fluorescence so that the bait is visible to fish while light from the ultraviolet source is not. In another embodiment, a switch on the handle of the rod permits the light source to be shut off and the bait is phosphorescent so that the light source shines onto the bait and then is shut off and the bait continues to be visible. If desired, a second light source can be positioned in a float to enable locating the bait.

摘要： A building includes an annular structure having inner and outer walls and a dome roof enclosing building units. An open space within inner wall is covered by air-supported fabric dome roof. Through selection of surface areas, thicknesses, and coefficients of heat transfer, for a given temperature difference the rate of heat flow through the inner wall is substantially equal to the rate of heat flow through the dome roof, providing optimum efficiency of climate control, including minimizing heat loss or gain, therefore minimizing power requirments for atmospheric control within the building and pen space. Preferably, the surface area of inner wall is substantially equal to the surface area of the dome roof.
