The silicone rubber layers (52, 54, 82, 86) are enclosed in respective cloth covers (56, 64, 102, 104, 110) and are stitched together along their lateral margins (106, 112, 126) to form a body part enclosure. The covering elements are made of materials which are substantially non-absorptive of microwave energy.

摘要： A method is shown for applying heat to a localized area such as a joint of the human body. A malleable heating pad (10) is provided which can be applied to the localized area by molding the heating pad about the localized area. The heating pad (10) includes a layer of uncured, microwaveable rubber (11) formed from a rubber matrix having blended therein an electromagnetic absorptive material. The heating pad (10) is heated to a temperature above ambient by exposing the heating pad (10) to microwave energy and the pad (10) is then applied to the affected area by molding the pad (10) about the localized area.

摘要： An improved wiper blade is made from a curable elastomeric composition which comprises about 100 parts of a silicone polymer, about 40 parts of filler, about from 0.5 to 2.0 parts of vulcanising catalyst and from 0 to about 10 parts of other enhancement additives, all parts being by weight. A method for making the wiper blade is also described in which a continuous length of elastomer is extruded through a die having a die opening shaped to produce a pair of wiper blades joined in edge-to-edge relation with a weakened mid-section, and the extruded elastomer is then cured. The cured elastomer is then separated into two separate lengths of wiper blade by pulling the length of continuous elastomer along the weakened mid-section.

摘要： A pressurized vessel, such as a tank liner, is formed of a thermoplastic injection-molded connector (42) or insert and a thermoplastic blow-molded vessel body (20). A noncylindrical skirt of the connector (42) having a substantia l surface area is spin-welded to a mating interface formed on the outer surface of the vessel body (20) adjacent an orifice into which the insert is received. In a preferred embodiment, a sacrificed portion of an upstanding orifice sidewall forms a molten weld bead, which flows in a channel to fuse the skirt to the mating interface.

摘要： Apparatus (10) for providing manipulative physical therapy includes a first mass (14) of a putty including a reaction product of siloxane with a boron- or tin-containing compound and a normal polysiloxane. At least one additional mass (18-32) of the putty is provided to the patient, the additional mass adaptable to be manually combined by the patient with the first mass (14) until a uniform color is achieved in the combined mass (38). Preferably, a plurality of additional masses (18-32) having a variety of colors are provided for successive combination with the combined mass. The apparatus provides a means by which the progress of manipulative physical therapy may be monitored, as a uniform color in the combined mass will be achieved only after extensive manipulation.
