摘要： Therapeutic garments or devices for enclosing appropriate body parts, such as a mitten (50), a bootie (80), an elongate strip (130) and the like, are fashioned with polyorganosiloxane layers (52, 54, 82, 86) having particles dispersed therein which absorb microwave energy and emanate heat in response. The silicone rubber layers (52, 54, 82, 86) are enclosed in respective cloth covers (56, 64, 102, 104, 110) and are stitched together along their lateral margins (106, 112, 126) to form a body part enclosure. The covering elements are made of materials which are substantially non-absorptive of microwave energy.

摘要： A method is shown for applying heat to a localized area such as a joint of the human body. A malleable heating pad (10) is provided which can be applied to the localized area by molding the heating pad about the localized area. The heating pad (10) includes a layer of uncured, microwaveable rubber (11) formed from a rubber matrix having blended therein an electromagnetic absorptive material. The heating pad (10) is heated to a temperature above ambient by exposing the heating pad (10) to microwave energy and the pad (10) is then applied to the affected area by molding the pad (10) about the localized area.

摘要： A pressurized vessel, such as a tank liner, is formed of a thermoplastic injectionmolded connector or insert and a thermoplastic blow-molded vessel hotly. A noncylindrical skirt of the connector having a substantial surface area is spin-welded to a mating interface formed on the outer surface of the vessel body adjacent an orifice into which the insert is received. In a preferred embodiment, a sacrificed portion of an upstanding orifice sidewall forms a molten weld bead, which flows in a channel to fuse the skirt to the mating interface.

摘要： Apparatus (10, 50) for removing frozen water from vehicle glass includes a cured, microwave-heatable layer (14, 64). The microwave-heatable layer (14, 64) may be formed from at least one elastomeric gum, a curing catalyst adaptable to cure the gum, and microwave-heatable particulate matter dispersed in the gum. In one embodiment, the apparatus (10) is a mitt including an insulative layer (42) which is positioned to be interposed between an inner surface (27) of the elastomeric pad (14) and the hand, such that the hand does not undergo temperature stress. The mitt (10) also preferably includes a visual marker (30) to indicate the temperature of the elastomeric pad (14).

摘要： The present invention provides a microwave heatable hair curler which is also electrically heatable, characterised in that it comprises a generally cylindrical curler body 13 having an open interior 15, an exterior 19 and opposing ends 21, 23, said body 13 being comprised of a matrix material having blended therein an electromagnetic absorptive material to produce a homogenous matrix composition which is heatable by exposure to microwave energy and which has sufficient rigidity to roll hair. The hair curler is preferably made from a blend of a polyorganosiloxane gum, a particulate electromagnetic absorptive material, a filler and a catalyst and extruded as in a cylindrical shape. The hair curler is heatable by exposure to microwave energy in a microwave oven or can be used with a variety of commerically available electric heating units.
