    • A beverage forming apparatus includes a storage tank, and a centrifugal pump having an inlet connected to the storage tank by a supply conduit. The centrifugal pump may include a priming vent located below a full level of the storage tank and permit air to vent as liquid primes the pump. A metering tank may have an inlet connected to the centrifugal pump by a pump conduit, and an outlet connected to a brew chamber that forms a beverage using liquid received from the metering tank. In one embodiment, a flow control valve, such as a check valve, may be provided in the pump conduit to allow flow from the pump to the metering tank, but resist flow in reverse. In another embodiment, a vent valve in the pump conduit may be arranged to vent at least a portion of the pump conduit, e.g., to ambient air pressure.

    • A modular vacuum toilet, and a method of servicing such a toilet, are disclosed. The toilet is used with a vacuum toilet system having a sewer line placeable under partial vacuum pressure and a source of rinse fluid. The modular vacuum toilet comprises a frame and a removable bowl engaging and supported be the frame, the bowl defining an outlet and having a rinse fluid dispenser associated therewith. The modular vacuum toilet also has a valve set module. The valve set module includes a discharge valve having an inlet in fluid communication with the bowl outlet, an outlet in fluid communication with the sewer line, and a movable discharge valve member disposed between the discharge valve inlet and outlet. A rinse fluid valve is also incorporated into the valve set module and has an inlet in fluid communication with the source of rinse fluid, an outlet in fluid communication with the rinse fluid dispenser, and a movable rinse fluid valve member disposed between the rinse fluid valve inlet and outlet. The valve set module further includes a flush control unit having a circuit board operably connected to the discharge valve and rinse fluid valve for controlling actuation of the discharge valve member and rinse fluid valve member.

    • A modular vacuum drainage system is provided which facilitates quick and easy installation in a building. The system includes a vacuum central housed in an enclosure and having interface connections located adjacent to a periphery of the enclosure to allow immediate access thereto. The vacuum central is sized to fit through standard doorway sizes, and is preferably housed in a soundproof enclosure so that the vacuum central may be installed in a room without requiring a separate mechanical room. The enclosure may be decorated to match the decor of the office, thereby providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance. A modular plumbing fixture is also provided which may be pre-fabricated off-site. The modular plumbing fixture is provided in a housing and has water and vacuum pipe inlets accessible from outside of the housing to facilitate connection to the vacuum central. The modular plumbing fixture may be attached to the vacuum central using vacuum piping disposed in a piping enclosure having an attractive exterior. The vacuum piping and piping enclosure are pre-fabricated to further minimize installation time. The modular vacuum drainage system allows a facility to be renovated with additional waste fluid sources while minimizing installation costs and production disruptions.

Movement of a brew chamber may automatically enable the provision of beverage precursor liquid into a reservoir in a brewer, which is then used (heated or not) to form a beverage. For example, closing of the brew chamber may cause a lid for a water reservoir to be fully opened or otherwise permit movement of the lid to allow access to the reservoir, allowing a user to provide water into the reservoir. The reservoir lid may open with an abrupt action, causing attention to be drawn to the reservoir lid. In another arrangement, closure of the brew chamber may cause actuation of a baffle, pump, valve or other device to provide a suitable amount of water to a reservoir for beverage formation. In another arrangement, opening of the brew chamber may cause the reservoir lid to be automatically and simultaneously opened with the brew chamber.
