    • A process for production of methacrylic copolymers, characterized by charging a monomer mixture comprising from 70 to 95% by weight of methyl methacrylate, from 0 to 15% by weight of &agr;-methylstyrene, from 0 to 20% by weight of styrene and from 2 to 15% by weight of maleic anhydride at a molar ratio of the sum of &agr;-methylstyrene and styrene to maleic anhydride laying within the range of 1.0 to 2.5 into a polymerizing vessel containing at least one polymeric membrane layer having an oxygen permeability of 1.5×10−13 (mol·m−2·s−1·Pa−1) or below, sealing the polymerizing vessel, and polymerizing the monomer mixture under heating in a gas phase; a methacrylic copolymer obtained by the production process which is reduced yellowing and shows excellent transparency and heat resistance; and an optical element composed of the methacrylic copolymer.

    • An acrylic film with a thickness of 300 .mu.m or less for acrylic-laminated injection molded articles, which comprises 0-10 parts by weight of a thermoplastic polymer (I) consisting mainly of methyl methacrylate and having a reduced viscosity exceeding 0.2 L/g; 5.5-25 parts by weight of a rubber-containing polymer (II) which is a polymer wherein a monomer consisting mainly of a methacrylic acid ester is linked with an elastic copolymer consisting mainly of an alkyl acrylate, and which has a particle size of 0.2 .mu.m-0.4 .mu.m; and 65-94.5 parts by weight of a thermoplastic polymer (III) consisting mainly of a methacrylic acid ester and having a reduced viscosity of no greater than 0.1 L/g, wherein the total of the components (I), (II) and (III) is 100 parts by weight, and the proportion of the elastic copolymer in the rubber-containing polymer (II) is 5-18 wt % of the total of components (I), (II) and (III); as well as molded articles laminated with the acrylic film.

    • This invention provides an optical copolymer which is excellent in balance among high transmittance, high heat resistance, low birefringent property, and mechanical strength, and an optical molded article comprising the optical copolymer. The optical copolymer comprises 50 to 80% by mass of methyl methacrylate units, 10 to 20% by mass of units derived from a specific lactone compound, and 10 to 30% by mass of trifluoroethyl methacrylate units. The mass ratio of the trifluoroethyl methacrylate units is in the range of 0.5 to 2.0 when the mass of the units derived from the specific lactone compound is presumed to be 1, and the glass transition temperature is 120° C. or above. The optical copolymer is suitable for objective lenses, prisms, condenser lenses, diffraction gratings, collimator lenses and sensor lenses.

    • A synthetic resin shaped article having good antistatic properties, composed of a substrate, at least part of which is covered with a synthetic resin surface layer integrated with the substrate.
