    • A door is pivotally secured to the back of a vehicle. A door opening device comprises a connecting rod including an upper end and a lower end. The upper end of the connecting rod is pivotally mounted to the door. The door opening device further comprises a guide member having a guide slit, a rack bar which slides up and down in the guide slit, a connecting shaft that pivotally connects the lower end of the connecting rod to an upper end of the rack bar and a driving unit for opening and closing the door via the connecting rod. The lower end of the connecting rod is pivotally coupled to the upper end of the rack bar.

    • A rope hook arrangement for a vehicle has a case fixed to a vehicle body, and a movable member slidable rectilinearly in the case so that a rope hook fixed to the movable member can be projected from the vehicle body and retracted. A spring is disposed between the case and movable member for urging the movable member to a projected position. A push-lock-push-release mechanism is provided for holding the movable member in a middle position in which the rope hook is retracted, allowing the movable member to move to the projected position when the movable member is depressed from the middle position to a depressed position and unhanded at the depressed position, and allowing the movable member to return to the middle position when the movable member is depressed from the projected position to the depressed position and unhanded. The push-lock-push-release mechanism comprises a rotatable member mounted on the case, and engaging and actuating projections formed in the movable member. The rotatable member is rectangular, and has two longer sides which are flat and parallel, and two shorter sides which are notched. The actuating projection abuts on the rotatable member when the movable member is moved to the depressed position, and rotates the rotatable member from a lock position to a release position or vice versa. The engaging projection engages with one of the notched shorter sides of the rotatable member and holds the movable member in the middle position only when the rotatable member is in the lock position.

    • A biasing structure for biasing a locking pawl-equipped operation rod in a given direction is described. A slit is formed in a rear end of the operation rod. A spring retainer is integrally provided by a bracket through which the operation rod is rotatably connected to a movable rail. The spring retainer includes a rearwardly projected portion whose one surface faces toward a rear end portion of the operation rod and a recess which is formed in a base part of the projected portion and faces toward the rear end portion of the operation rod. A coil spring includes a multi-turned major portion, a front straight portion tangentially extending from a front end of the major portion and a rear straight portion extending radially inward from a rear end of the major portion. Upon assembly of the coil spring, the major portion thereof is disposed on the rear end portion of the operation rod with the front straight portion put in the recess and with the rear straight portion put in the slit while being twisted about its axis against a biasing force produced by the spring. The surface of the rearwardly projected portion is sized and arranged to support the front straight portion of the coil spring when the coil spring is about to be properly assembled.

    • An automotive seat having a seat cushion latching device is disclosed, in which the changing of the seat cushion from an operative latched position to a folded latched position or vice verse is achieved by manipulating only one operation lever. The automotive seat comprises a seat cushion; a pivot mechanism for permitting the seat cushion to pivot between an operative position and a folded position with respect a fixed member; first and second strikers secured to spaced portions of the seat cushion; a base structure secured to the fixed member; a first latching mechanism installed in the base structure for latching the first striker when the seat cushion assumes the operative position; a second latching mechanism installed in the base structure for latching the second striker when the seat cushion assumes the folded position; an operation lever pivotally supported by the base structure; and a link mechanism linking the operation lever to both the first and second latching mechanisms so that a pivotal movement of the operation lever in a given direction cancels a latched condition of either one of the first and second latching mechanisms.

    • A rope hook arrangement for a vehicle has a case fixed to the vehicle body and a movable member slidable rectilinearly in the case. A rope hook fixed to one end of the movable member can be projected from the vehicle body and retracted. A spring is disposed between the case and movable member so that the movable member is always urged outwardly. A latch lever is swingably mounted on the movable member, and first and second pins are fixed to the case. The first pin engages with the latch lever and holds the movable member in a middle position in which the rope hook is snugly retracted. If the movable member is pushed down to a depressed position by hand, and unhanded at that position, the first pin pushes the latch lever to a release position, so that the movable member is lifted up by the spring to a projected position in which the rope hook is projected from the vehicle body. When the movable member is pushed down from the projected position to the middle position, the second pin pushes the latch lever to a lock position, so that the rope hook can be easily retracted.
