摘要： A semiconductor memory device according to the present invention comprises a hosing including a card bus connector for connection to a host device and having a PC card shape having the thickness of 5.0 mm, four SD memory cards (R: Registered trade mark) housed in the housing and a control circuit for controlling transmission/reception of a signal between the card bus connector and the respective SD memory cards (R: Registered trade mark). The semiconductor memory device is suitably used as a recording medium of the host device for which a higher data transfer rate and a larger memory capacity are demanded. Further, a semiconductor memory device, which is attachable and detachable relative to the host device and thereby portable, and relatively inexpensively obtainable, can be provided, and is directly insertable into a laptop personal computer to be used.

摘要： A magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus is provided in which among diametrically oppositely disposed heads, a recording head and an erasing head of a same channel are disposed adjacently to each other. The recording head is disposed so as to precede by two tracks the erasing head with respect to a direction of cylinder rotation, when insert-editing, using a reproduced signal obtained by the recording head, erase and record timing setting and head tracking are performed and an erasing current is not applied during the reproduction by the recording head. The reproducing heads are disposed so as to be angularly apart by about 90 degrees from the recording and erasing heads, and a rotary transformer for reproduction is applied with a shield measure and then, formed as a core independently at an upper portion of the cylinder. In addition, more narrow tracks are compatibly reproduced by the recording head.

摘要： An apparatus for demodulating and decoding a multi-level amplitude modulation signal used to convey digital data, such as a QAM signal, having amplitude modulated carrier components differing in phase. The apparatus derives demodulated data values from that signal, and derives from average values of sets of these data values a set of compensated reference point data respectively corresponding to signal reference points of the multi-level modulation signal which are expressible as a symbol constellation in the I-Q plane. The compensated reference point data are used to obtain correct digital code values from the demodulated data, even if there is considerable distortion of the multi-level amplitude modulated signal, as is the case for such a signal when recorded and reproduced from a magnetic recording medium.

摘要： A magnetic a tape recording/reproducing apparatus comprises a tape running unit, a recording and reproducing unit, a data memory, and a controller. The controller controls the tape running unit, the data memory and the recording and reproducing unit such that, in a recording mode, the input data are continuously written into the data memory at a first a data rate and the written data are intermittently read out from the data memory at a second data rate which is higher than the first data rate and intermittently recorded onto a magnetic tape, and that, in a reproduction mode, the recorded data are intermittently reproduced from the magnetic tape and intermittently written into the data memory at the second data rate and the written data are continuously read out from the data memory at the first data rate. The controller is responsive to indication information indicating that the tape is not in a recordable or reproducible position for stopping reading operation in the recording mode and writing operation in reproduction mode of the data memory and operation of the recording and reproducing unit and for controlling the tape running unit to transfer the tape to a recordable or reproducible position.

摘要： A signal processing apparatus for changing the frequency characteristics of an input signal, e.g.--a video or audio signal, allows a signal to pass through a transmission circuit in a positive time sequence and then, allows the signal to be transmitted through another transmission circuit having the same transmission characteristics in a reverse time sequence with respect to the positive time sequence. Also, while the transmission circuit is arranged to have a zero-phase characteristic, each segment of a continuous signal is processed throughout a period which is equal to at least two times a duration of an impulse response direction of the transmission circuit. Accordingly, unwanted wave errors appearing at discontinuous regions of the signals are eliminated.

摘要： In transmission or recording of a digital signal by means of digital amplitude and phase modulation, particularly recording into and reproducing the same from the a magnetic recording medium, a digital amplitude/phase modulated signal to be demodulated is commonly affected by the non-linear amplitude characteristics and the effects of unwanted jitter and envelope variation. As the result, the error rate of decoded data will be increased. For compensation, the Viterbi decoding technique is employed with the use of a weighted distance value calculated by multiplying an Euclidean distance between the signal point of a reproduction signal and the datum point of each code by a positive weighting factor which is determined smaller when the code datum point is located further from the origin point of a coordinate system. Accordingly, the weighted distance of each reproduction signal point from its corresponding datum point can approximately be uniform thus ensuring less error decoding in general.
