摘要： Systems and methods are provided for providing decision making support in healthcare. A user is able to provide healthcare data, including qualifier, indications, body part modifiers, body parts, modality modifiers, modalities, procedures and protocols. A graphical user interface (GUI) is provided to allow procedure rules to be created by selecting components of the healthcare data. The procedure rules identify and recommend appropriate procedures based on user input. The GUI also allows for global rules, body part rules, modality rules and modality modifier rules to be created; these rules are contra-indicators to procedures. Upon establishing the rules, a physician can enter data about a patient into the system, and the system will use the rules to return one or more appropriate procedures.

Methods and devices are also provided to enhance vascularization around the implanted device, which also will aid in mass transport to/from the device. In one aspect, the device includes a substrate; a plurality of discrete reservoirs in the substrate; one or more pharmaceutical agents stored in the reservoirs; discrete reservoir caps which prevent the pharmaceutical agent from passing out from the reservoirs; control means for actuating release of the one or more pharmaceutical agents from one or more of the reservoirs by disintegrating or permeabilizing the reservoir caps; means for securing the device to the skin of the patient; and means for transporting to the skin the one or more pharmaceutical agents following release from the one or more of the reservoir.

摘要： A method and apparatus for molding polymeric structures in vivo is disclosed. The structures comprise polymers that may be heated to their molding temperature by absorption of visible or near-visible wavelengths of light. By providing a light source that produces radiation of the wavelength absorbed by the polymeric material, the material may be selectively heated and shaped in vivo without a corresponding heating of adjacent tissues or fluids to unacceptable levels. The apparatus comprises a catheter (10) having a shaping element (12) positioned near its distal end. An emitter (15) provided with light from at least one optical fiber (18) is positioned within the shaping element. The emitter serves to provide a moldable polymeric article (19) positioned on the shaping element with a substantially uniform light field, thereby allowing the article to be heated and molded at a desired treatment site in a body lumen.
