An over- or under-rider 36 also of the same elastomeric material is of truncated V- form having limbs 27, 28 secured by adhesive to a plate 32 bolted to support 12. Side walls form a free volume 31 within the V-form. A side light may be embedded in member 13 and screwed to support 12.

摘要： In an electrostatic separator for liquids, and in particular for separating the constituents of emulsions as in the dehydration of crude petroleum, a horizontal cylindrical vessel 10 contains a number of pairs of oppositely charged electrodes 16 and 17, and the liquid is discharged downwardly between the electrodes by distributers 25 within the vessel. The electrodes may comprise a number of pairs of parallel plates on each side of the vessel as shown, in which case the distributers are pairs of openings fed by vertical conduits, or they may comprise two pairs of plates each extending for substantially the whole length of the vessel, when p the distributers are two feed pipes running along the vessel above the pairs of plates and perforated on their undersides.

摘要： An air capture turbine, such as a vertical axis wind turbine, comprises a centrifugal fan 5 having a plurality of fan blades 5c extending from a wall and a cowling having an inner wall, where the centrifugal fan is housed to the inside of the inner wall of the cowling and where the centrifugal fan has a ring gear mounted on a lower side 5b. The turbine further comprises at least three energy converters, each including a gear wheel for engaging the ring gear, where the weight of the centrifugal fan is supported by the energy converters and where the inner wall of the cowling has a plurality of openings 4 with closure elements for selectively closing one or more of the openings. The openings allow wind to act on the turbine in the direction of rotation while preventing the wind from acting on it in against the direction of rotation.

Class 41 Apparatus for promoting the flow of petroleum oil or gas from an oilbearing strata 1, Fig. 1, to a well boring 2, comprises a positive electrode 5 in contact through an anode 4 with the oilbearing strata at a distance from the well, and a negative electrode 6, 7 in the strata adjacent the well, the electrodes being connected to a source of unidirectional electrical energy, which may be pulsated. Voltages up to 1000V may be used. It is stated that the electric current flowing through the strata breaks down the capillary force between the oil and sand &c., and promotes the flow of oil towards the cathode by electro-osmosis. The pulsed voltage is generated by a shaped cam and contact breaker 14, 15 by which pulses are of unequal duration. The cathode 7 may be surrounded by a perforated screw. In modifications, not shown, (1) An inner tube inserted in the main well bore may be the electrode and insulated from it, (2) A number of such well bores with negative electrodes associated therewith may be operated in turn from a single positive electrode at a distance of 1000 feet or more, using a rotary contact switch in the D.C. generator circuit, (3) the pulsating current may be generated by charging and discharging a capacitor, (4) the positive electrode may also be associated with a well bore, and the current periodically reversed between the two electrodes one at each well bore. Either well then serves as a delivery well.

The weight of the centrifugal fan is supported by the at least three energy converters, and the inner wall of the cowling has a plurality of openings formed therein and closure members for selectively closing one or more of the plurality of openings, the openings providing or ingress and egress of air flowing in the direction of a prevailing wind to and from the centrifugal fan and the closure members protecting fan blades moving towards the direction of the prevailing wind from being engaged by air moving in that direction.
