    • An engine oil filter is provided that comprises a transparent sidewall for inspecting the oil content within the oil filter interior. The oil filter comprises an oil filter housing with a filter element, a center tube, a base plate, and a biasing member that maintains the filter element in position within the filter housing. The filter housing has a sidewall that comprises a transparent material, thereby allowing inspection of the oil within the filter without having to first remove the filter from an engine. Also provided is an oil condition indicator that allows a user to compare the color of the oil within the oil filter housing to one or more oil reference markers. The oil condition indicator is used to determine when the oil has reached its usable life and when the oil must be replaced.

    • A power operator for switchgear for use in mains power distribution systems such as public medium high voltage distribution systems, where the switchgear comprises a closed cabinet (5) with an operating shaft protruding there from. The operating shaft is rotable at least between two positions and has a coupling part.     • The apparatus and method herein provide a means for actively monitoring a communications node for datapath disruptions caused within the node. It was developed to address linecard failures that were detected in the field and for which traditional error detection mechanisms such as CRC and OAM CC checks are not feasible. According to one implementation, statistics are collected over a preset time interval. If any egress cell counts are zero over a full interval, then the ingress interface for that datapath is determined, e.g. using the node's cross-datapath information, and the corresponding linecard of that ingress interface is contacted to determine the ingress cell count. If the ingress cell count is non-zero then the datapath is alarmed since the complete lack of cells transmitted at the egress indicates a datapath disruption. Other implementations that can detect datapath disruptions without a complete interval of statistics collection and which do not require a zero egress cell count are possible for cases where congestion, linecard resets, etc. can be ruled out.

    • The present invention relates to a gelatinous moisturizing substrate such as that described in U.S. Pat. No. 4,865,640 for controllably delivering water, gas micro-nutrients, plant growth additives, preservatives, and surfactants to plant tissue such as the entire vertical root system of a plant.
