摘要： A contact pad for an electronic device integrated in a semiconductor material chip is formed from a succession of protruding elements. Each protruding element extends transversally to a main surface of the chip and has a rounded terminal portion. Adjacent pairs protruding elements define an opening which is partially filled with a first conductive material to form a contact structure that is in electrical contact with an integrated electronic device formed in the chip. A layer of a second conductive material is deposited to cover said protruding elements and the contact structures so as to form the contact pad.

摘要： A method and circuit are disclosed for controlling the write head of a magnetic disk storage device. The circuit includes a pull-up device coupled to a terminal of the write head, for selectively providing a current to the write head though the write head terminal. The circuit further includes parallel-connected current sink circuits, each of which is coupled to the write head terminal and selectively activated to draw current from the write head via the write head terminal. A first transistor is connected in series between the pull-up device and the write head terminal and biased to provide a voltage differential between the write head terminal and the pull-up device. A second transistor is connected in series between the write head terminal and the current sink circuits and biased to provide a voltage differential between the write head terminal and the current sink circuits.

摘要： An apparatus (and method) is provided that reduces thermal interference in the read signal of a disk drive. A variable or programmable resistance is used to change the transfer function of a filter in the read channel of the disk drive to filter the read signal. The filter has a first transfer function (first cut-off frequency) related to the programmed resistance during normal operation of the disk drive (i.e. when thermal interference is not detected). When thermal interference is detected in the read signal, the resistance is programmed to another value resulting in the filter having a second transfer function (second cut-off frequency). The resistance element is variable or programmable to different values resulting in different programmable transfer functions (or one of a multitude of cut-off frequencies) for the filter. In the preferred embodiment, detection of thermal interference increases the cut-off frequency of the filter thereby filtering, or reducing the effects of, the thermal interference in the read signal.

摘要： A servo-demodulator for a pair of alternating signals generated by a magnetic disc read head and indicative of the position of the read head in relation to the center of a recorded track. The servo-demodulator comprises a peak detector for successively and individually sampling the amplitude of each of a plurality of peaks of the pair of alternating signals, and a capacitor periodically connected to the output of the peak detector by a control logic for deriving a weighted average of the various successively sampled amplitudes. In this manner, the control logic obtains an averaged measure of amplitude with high immunity to noise.

摘要： A circuit having a double half-wave rectifier connected to the outputs of a differential amplifier in order to produce two quantities dependent on the amplitudes of the half-waves of the output signal of the amplifier. Two comparators each having an input are connected to an output of the rectifier and a reference input in order to produce respective output signals when the amplitudes of the respective half-waves are greater than the levels applied to the reference inputs. The circuit also has processing means for generating a signal for regulating the gain of the amplifier in dependence on the durations of the output signals of the two comparators. The circuit may advantageously be used when the signal to be amplified is not symmetrical.

摘要： A photolithographic process, wherein a photosensitive layer is formed on a surface of a body to be defined; the photosensitive layer is exposed through a photolithographic mask having zones with lower transparency and zones with higher transparency so as to obtain exposed portions and shielded portions of the photosensitive layer; selective portions of the photosensitive layer chosen between the exposed portions and the shielded portions of the photosensitive layer are removed; and portions of the body under the selective portions of the photosensitive layer are selectively removed. The composite layer includes photoresist and carbon nanotubes, which are embedded in the photoresist and extend in a direction generally transverse to, and in electrical contact with, the body.
