    • This invention relates to a braking indicator device, a vehicle comprising a braking indicator device, and a method of operating one or more brake indicators/s of a vehicle during braking. The device in accordance with the invention comprises at least a deceleration determining module configured to determine a deceleration value in the direction of travel of the vehicle by subtracting a first obtained deceleration measurement from a second obtained deceleration measurement. Wherein the device further comprises a comparator module configured to compare the determined deceleration value with a deceleration threshold in order to determine if the vehicle is undergoing emergency/rapid or normal/gentle deceleration; and an output module configured to output a suitable emergency brake control signal or normal brake control signal to one or more brake indicator/s if the vehicle is undergoing emergency/rapid deceleration or normal/gentle deceleration respectively.

    • This invention relates to a flow control device, and more particularly, but not exclusively, to a flow control device that can be used as a valve system for a cylinder of a reciprocating engine or compressor, and alternatively also as a valve actuator for use in controlling flow of a hydraulic fluid to a hydraulically actuated valve. The flow control device includes a flow distribution device having a distribution aperture, the distribution aperture being in continuous flow communication with an inlet; and a flow control assembly having a flow control passage provided therethrough. The flow control assembly and the flow distribution device are displaceable relative to one another, in order for the distribution aperture and the flow control passage to be displaceable between an at least partially aligned condition in which the inlet is in flow communication with an outlet; and an offset condition in which the flow control assembly prevents flow between the inlet and the outlet. The flow control passage has an effective length that is adjustable in order to adjust a period of the aligned condition.

    • An early warning brake system for a vehicle is provided that gives adequate warning to a following vehicle driver. The system has an accelerometer which constantly measures deceleration of the vehicle and stores any new maximum deceleration during progress of the vehicle. This maximum deceleration is stored in a computer. When the deceleration of the vehicle is at the prevailing maximum value or a function or fraction thereof, the computer activates an early warning to the following vehicle. The acceleration (or deceleration) due to the vehicle travelling on a slope is also measured and automatically compensates the prevailing maximum deceleration on a level road.
