    • My invention relates to a waste plug for baths and sinks featuring a flow/no-flow facility operated by centre pushbutton. Pushbutton (12) for flow, push again for no-flow. The underside is conically shaped (6) to help locate position on waste outlet. The plug can remain semi-permanent in waste outlet achieving a flow/no-flow operation by an internal high/low mechanism. High creates flow (30), low no-flow (32). The plug creates a seal on the waste outlet through contact with flange seal (3). This position is no-flow and flow position achieved when flange seal is raised out of contact with waste outlet flange. It also operates without flange seal by movement of stopper (14) from flow position to no-flow position when in contact with ring (2). The said plug is made from acetyl plastic and urethane flange seal, and a stainless steel spring.

    • 8791. Forrester, W., Forrester, J., and Forrester, J. April 16. Bottling.-Relates to revolving-table machines for bottling aerated waters &c. The liquid-supply valve m in each filling-head d is opened by the action of a roller o on a cam plate p operating through a cam-block k on the spindle of the valve, the parts o, p, & being all carried on the filling-head. The cam-plate p is operated by a fixed roller x, Fig. 1, to open the corresponding valve, and by the second fixed roller x to permit the valve to close The block k has a wedge-shaped groove l overlying the valve spindle, and is connected by the linkage j, i, Fig. 1, with the lever g of the usual spring- controlled bottle rest f, so that, if a bottle breaks or is omitted, the block is drawn by the action of the bottle rest into a position in which the valve is permitted to close or is not operated. The bottles may be released by a treadle f , instead of by hand, the treadle having a hook f , which engages with a hook f on the bottle rest. For regulating the quantity of liquid supplied, the filling-head d is connected through a pipe e', Fig. 4, and a passage in the fixed screwed stem e , with an adjustable pressure-chamber e. The stem e is provided with a piston or diaphragm e , c , e , which breaks a tight joint with the cylinder e, and the capacity of the cylinder is adjusted by screwing it upwards or downwards on the stem e . The plate e for compressing the washer e is operated by a spindle e , which passes through a stuffing-box e &c. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the disk washer s is secured between the plates e , u by lock-nuts v, and the cylinder is adjusted by rotating the milled nut e . The milled nut may, however, be dispensed with, and the cylinder screwed directly on the stem e , as in Fig. 4. In this arrangement, the overflow liquid w forms a liquid seal. As a further modification, the regulator may be formed similarly to a Stauffer lubricator. The air displaced from the bottle during filling, and any overflow liquid, enter the chamber e, the surplus liquid returning to the filling - head and the air escaping as the bottle is withdrawn. The air passage is provided with a screw-down valve d , which can either be closed entirely for small bottles, or adjusted to regulate the quantity of liquid. The air passage is also fitted with a nipple y having radial passages z, to prevent the escaping air from blowing out any liquid from the bottle when the latter is withdrawn.
