    • A low pressure aerosol dispensing can which is distinguished from existing high pressure aerosol dispensing cans. The generally cylindrical can has a thin wall thickness, like that of a carbonated beverage can, which can be distorted by finger pressure but whose shape is maintained by internal gas pressure. The liquid contents to be dispensed and the propellant gas are mixed in the can. The dispensing valve at the top of the can dispenses the liquid contents and propellant in a controlled manner. The valve may include an additional narrow bore vapor tap between the gaseous propellant head space in the can and the valve chamber for delivering extra gas for atomizing the liquid and propelling it from the nozzle. The gas pressure in the can is coordinated with the can wall and bottom thickness so that the can will have sufficient distortion resistance and burst resistance at elevated temperature. Yet the can has side walls of a thickness low enough to permit the can to be easily crushed by hand pressure when the can is empty.

    • A thin walled, easily crushable container (11) with an integral or seamed-on bottom is filled with an edible material (10) which requires sterilization. The empty container has one end attached or integral that may have a concave slope relative to the inside of the container. A liquified or solidified inert gas is then inserted into the container. The container is then sealed with a concave shaped end (13) before the inert liquified or solidified gas has completely vaporized. The ends do not bulge under the pressure left after sterilization, which pressure is due to the pressurization effect of the inert gas and which pressure is enough to overcome the vacuum caused by the cooling of hot water vapor or steam above the edible material and gives the can the required rigidity.

    • A pressurized thin walled expandable can 10 from which a fluent pressurized product is dispensed is made from an expandable can wall 12 and a barrier 20, which may be a fully evertable bag having uniform thickness and flexibility and shaped to fit within the can wall 12. The open end of the bag is mounted to the can wall 12 by means which maintain a seal as the can wall expands and returns to its unexpanded condition. As product to be dispensed is introduced into the product chamber 30, the flexible bag is extended down into the lower end of the can. As the product is later expelled through a discharge opening, the flexible bag, which may be plastic, is fully everted into the upper end of the can to expel all the product. The can is thin walled, so that when pressurized, the can diameter expands by at least one-thousandth (1/1000) of its unexpanded valαe. In one embodiment, the bag is mounted by a ring 24 inside the can. The ring 24 includes a portion which expands to maintain the seal 64 with the expanding can side wall. In another embodiment the ring 24 is rigid, but of slightly larger diameter than the can 10. This ring stretches the can, so as to maintain the sealing contact with the can as the can expands. In other embodiments, the bag may be mounted by a stretchable adhesive and, if the bag is slightly elastic, it may be mounted by an adhesive or by a melt seal process such as heat sealing.
