    • A forged sickle bar hold-down formed with a reduced transverse cross-sectional area and a first hole therethrough positioned toward the rear end of the hold-down is disclosed. The hold-down includes a second hole therethrough positioned between the reduced cross-sectional area and the first hole. In use, an attachment bolt is positioned through the first hole and a support bar and rigidly affixed thereto. A threaded adjustment bolt is inserted through the second hole and the support bar to selectively draw down on that portion of the hold-down forward of the reduced transverse cross-sectional area and thereby flex the forward portion of the hold-down which includes an elongated finger-like body portion with a knife section facing area.

    • A mechanical throttle control mechanism is provided for the remote control of an internal combustion engine. The mechanism comprises a speed selector arm movable between first and second limit positions, a friction lock operably associated with the speed selector arm and an arrangement of links connecting the speed selector arm to the throttle lever of the engine. The links of the mechanism are so positioned to cause a decreasing moment arm on the speed selector arm as the speed selector arm is moved from its first position toward its second position which respectively corresponds to the shut-off and full-throttle positions of the throttle lever. This arrangement reduces the need experienced heretofore for high friction disc pressure to hold the speed selector arm in a desired position between its limit positions, resulting in less disc wear and less frequent friction spring adjustment. At its second position, the selector arm is in an over-centered position which eliminates the rotational load on the friction disc and prevents the speed selector arm from slipping toward its first position.

    • A mechanism for lifting the reel on a mower-conditioner relative to the cutterbar when the header is raised to an upward position is disclosed wherein a link is selectively connectable between the reel arms and the mower-conditioner frame to effect a pivotal movement of the reel arms on the header when the header is raised relative to the mower-conditioner frame by the header lift mechanism. The link can be in the form of a flexible chain operatively engaged with a take-up mechanism to permit storage of the chain when placed in an inoperative position or in the form of a rigid link selectively pivotally connectable to both the frame and the reel arms when movement of the reel relative to the cutterbar is desired.
