    • A spotlight is provided that employs stationary motors for positioning a light beam at a desired azimuth and elevation such that there is no blind spots of the light beam at the zenith of the azimuth and elevation. A drive train rotates the spotlight about a horizontal axis and allows the motor driving the rotation to have a stationary mounting in a base while at the same time providing the light beam of the spotlight with a range of elevation that exceeds 90 degrees from a horizontal reference plane at any desired azimuth. More particularly, a stationary motor drives a capstan, which includes a spool that winds and unwinds a cable connected to a lamp assembly of the spotlight for positioning the light beam at a desired elevation. The cable is communicated between the lamp assembly and the capstan by way of a central bore in a mast that supports the lamp assembly for rotation about a vertical axis.

    • An improved siren including means for producing and directing sound energy against a rotatable reflector which directs the sound waves out from the siren in a generally horizontal direction and which due to rotation of the reflector about a vertical axis causes such sound waves to be directed in all horizontal directions. One embodiment includes rotor and stator means which create sound energy that is directed generally downwardly in the manner of a ring radiator, together with a reflector mounted beneath the rotor and stator for rotation about a generally vertical axis, the reflector being tilted relative to its axis of rotation to intercept the downwardly directed sound waves and direct them out horizontally thereby providing a directional siren which covers a 360 degree area due to rotation of the reflector.

    • A low drag warning system for emergency vehicles having an aerodynamic design reducing turbulent flow past the housing for increased fuel economy and performance. The housing of the warning light system is provided with a pair of light globe compartments possessing an efficient aerodynamic design and a central speaker housing. The speaker housing has a downward sloped speaker grill to create a flow pattern also reducing drag. The air flow is introduced into the speaker housing with a ram effect. Outflow ports from the speaker housing circulate an air flow within the domes to prevent condensation and cool the components therein. The speaker mounted in the housing attains increased sound output using a relatively low power drive.
