    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an electrode assembly using photolithographic technology.
      SOLUTION: A long and thin implantation electrode assembly (50) includes a set of electrode pads (12 and 14) placed in a predetermined pattern, and a plurality of electric wires (34 and 36) extending in a longitudinal direction each wire being connected to at least one pad. The electrode assembly can be formed using photolithographic technology by: firstly depositing the pads (12 and 14) on a sacrifice layer (10), secondly attaching the electric wires (34 and 36) to the pads (12 and 14), thirdly implanting the pads and electric wires in a carrier (46), and finally removing the sacrifice layer (10).

    • Presented herein is a bone fixture for a medical prosthesis. The bone fixture includes a self- drilling threaded body that is configured to be inserted into a recipient's bone. The threaded body includes a bone removal mechanism configured to cut away parts of the bone that are in the path of the threaded body and to remove portions of the cut parts of the bone, sometimes referred to herein as bone fragments, from the hole. The bone fixture also comprises a coupling section that is attached to a proximal end of the threaded body. The coupling section is configured to be positioned external to the recipient's bone and includes a connector interface that is entirely/completely proximal to the threaded body.

    • Disclosed herein are electrode assemblies configured for use with a medical device, such as an implantable medical device. In one aspect, the disclosed electrode assembly includes at least a first electrode and a second electrode, each of which is configured to deliver electrical stimuli to a body part of a recipient. The electrode assembly also includes a first wire that is attached at one end to the first electrode and comprises a conductor that has a first diameter, and a second wire that is attached to the second electrode and comprises a conductor that has a second diameter, with the first diameter being greater than the second diameter. Additionally, each of the first wire and the second wire pass through a proximal end of the assembly is configured to connect the one of the electrodes to a stimulation unit of a medical device.
