摘要： A burner 1 comprises a combustion chamber 2 whose volume is adjusted using arrangement 4, and a means 3 of delivering solid fuel to the combustion chamber 2. The arrangement 4 may be manually adjusted with handle 12 to adjust the width of the combustion chamber 2 and may be movable perpendicular to the flow of fuel from fuel delivery means 3, which may comprise a fuel chute. The arrangement 4 may comprise a body portion 11, grate (7, Fig. 5) and guide arrangement 5, (8, Fig. 5), (9, Fig. 6). The burner may comprise a slidable choke 14 which can adjust the volume or close off the fuel chute of the duel delivery means 3. During combustion, fuel from combustion chamber 2 may pass into secondary combustion chamber 18. The burner 1 is suitable for burning biomass or wood pellets and may comprise an induction chamber 22 to extract heat to a connected heat load such as a water boiler, space heater, or oven.

摘要： A selection apparatus comprises input means for accepting an input from a user, output means for generating an output based on the input; storage means for storing a dependence between the inputs and the outputs; selection means for enabling the apparatus to select a particular dependence from a number of possible dependencies; and reset means for resetting the apparatus; wherein, until the apparatus is reset, the dependence of the outputs on the inputs remains the same, and, when the apparatus is reset, the selection means is arranged to replace the selected dependence by another dependence selected by the selection means from said number of possible dependencies. The apparatus may use carriers to store the dependences, on the form of paper strips (2, Fig 4) and the input is chosen by the rotation of a dial 2b until a the desired input is displayed in a window 4. The output may be removed from the carrier 2 and disposed to the user through a door 7. The paper strips (2, Fig 4) can be replaced as the reset means. The apparatus may take an electronic form used with a processor and display.

The burner is suitable for burning biomass fuel and may comprise an induction chamber 22 to extract heat to a connected heat load such as a water boiler, space heater, or oven.

摘要： An electrochemical cell for testing the electrochemical behaviour of a plurality of materials comprises: a first electrode; a counter-electrode bearing an electrochromic material having a visual or measurable property which changes in a manner proportional to the total charge passed through it; and an electrolyte between and in electrical contact with the first electrode and the counter-electrode; wherein one of the first electrode and the electrolyte comprises a plurality of regions, each region comprising a sample of material to be tested, the regions being, in the case of the first electrode, electrically connected to a common terminal. Such a cell can be used for a "combinatorial chemistry" approach to testing the properties of possible cell components.
