    • A patterned film or foil is obtained by applying a solution of cellulose acetate or similar material to a casting surface from a pouring vessel and supplying a second solution of cellulose acetate to the material emerging from that vessel. The two solutions may be of different colours or shades of colour, or one may be uncoloured. The casting surface is preferably a rotary drum or endless band upon which the solvent is evaporated from the film material. The patterning solution may be supplied from one or more auxiliary pouring vessels, the slots of which are divided in accordance with the pattern stripes desired. The first solution exerts a tractional force on the stripes of the further solution and prevents the narrow apertures from becoming blocked. The film may show ribbed effects if it is allowed to shrink during drying. As shown in Fig. 1, two pourers 10, 11 are formed by the plates 12, 13, 14, and end plates 15, 28. A doctor or stripper knife 18 rests on plate 12 and is adjusted by the screw 19. The plate 13 forming the rear wall of the main pourer 10 and the front wall of the patterning pourer 11 abuts at its lower edge against plate 14 and the matrix 21. The matrix 21 has apertures 27, Fig. 2, in accordance with the desired patterning, and it may be adjustable on the plate 14. Plate 13 is adjusted by screws 24 and together with plate 14 is pivotally mounted on a stay bolt 16. The inclination of plate 14 is adjusted by the screw 22 with ball-joint 29. In operation, the patterning solution passes into the solution, emerging from the pourer 10 on to the drum or band 17.

[Class 38 (v).] In an automatic circuit-breaker that is movable to the open position by upsetting a toggle, rapid opening by manual operation is ensured by providing on the operating member means for upsetting the toggle. The insulating operating handle 21 is pivoted at 22 and connected by a toggle 26, 27 to a channellever 14, which is pivoted at 16 and has riveted to it a spring strip 13 carrying a contact 12. The degree of overset is adjusted by a screw 28 in the channel link 27, and a depending part 29 on link 26 is engageable by the adjustable armature 18, also pivoted at 16. On overload, the trip coils 30, which are mounted on either side of the mechanism, attract the armature 18 and forcibly upset the toggle, the opening being hastened by the springiness of contact 13. For manual opening, the handle carries a phosphor-bronze strip or strips 34 with an end that is inturned and chamfered on its underside so that, in closing, the strip is deflected by the toggle link 27 but, in opening, the straight upper side engages under that link and forcibly upsets the toggle. Magnetic blow-outs.-The magnets 30 may serve as blow-outs by extending to form side cheeks 32 lined with insulation. Contacts.-The fixed contact is formed as a surface 10 of a strip to which the terminal block 5 is riveted.

    • A solution is provided for controlling universal serial bus (USB) messages between a plurality of host computers and a USB device. First and second USB servers may communicate with first and second host computers, respectively. A USB client may then communicate with the USB device. A first control path between the USB client and the first USB server and a second control path between the USB client and the second USB server may be established. Then a first data transfer path may be established between the USB client and the first USB server, the first data transfer path enabling the sending of data between the USB client and the first USB server over a data network. Then a busy message may be sent from the USB client to the second USB server over the second control path when the first data transfer path is established with the first USB server.
