    • An apparatus and method for conditioning conveyor chains in commercial ovens of the type having a continuous conveyor chain supported in a track for transporting bakery products through the oven. A portion of the conveyor chain and supporting track transits outside the heated baking area of the oven and an automatic chain lubricator (64) is positioned along the portion of the track transiting outside the baking area of the oven. A fan (82) for creating a flow of cooling air and at least one air duct (84) are located outside the baking area. The duct (84) receives one end cooling air from the fan and directs the cooling air on to the conveyor chain along the portion thereof located outside the heated baking area of the oven and upstream from the lubricator (64). Also, an air knife (70) is disposed upstream of the lubricator and directed onto the chain to remove undesired debris, etc., therefrom.

    • A multi-walled plate element for use in a plate heat exchanger, manufactured by pressing two or more plates, said plate element having a plurality of holes which, when several plate elements are assembled, form distribution channels of a plate heat exchanger. At least some of the holes of the plate element are provided in that one of the walls incorporated in the plate element has a hole cross-section corresponding to the hole concerned of the plate element, and that the other wall or walls incorporated in the plate element have a different hole cross-section. The plate element is assembled with other plate elements to provide a plate heat exchanger. Gaskets (100) being arranged between two plate elements, said gaskets (100) extending along the periphery of the plate elements and around one set of port holes such that the inlet and outlet of a distribution channel can communicate via flow between the two plate elements through the other set of port holes. In respective areas around port holes provided with gaskets (100), the plate element is constructed such that the wall facing the gaskets has a greater hole diameter than the wall facing away from the gaskets. The gaskets (100) being caused to engage both the area around the hole termination on the adjacent wall and the rear side of the other plate.

    • A conveyor system for a baking oven is disclosed which has a continuous product support conveyor (12) arranged in 2 two towers (15a and 15b). A loading station L and an unloading station U are provided adjacent the bottom of the towers (15b and 15a) respectively. The loading station L comprises a first continuous conveyor (70) which is narrower than the support conveyor (12) and extends from the loading station L onto the conveyor (12) and to the unloading station U. The loading station L also has a second continuous conveyor (72) which is spaced from the conveyor (70) and which extends to a position below the lower spiral of the tower (15b). A third continuous conveyor (74) is arranged at the unloading station U from the conveyor (70). Product supported on the conveyor system is transferred from the loading station L onto the continuous conveyor (12) whilst always being supported by the conveyor (70) and is transferred from the continuous conveyor (12) at the unloading station U whilst always supported by the conveyor (70). Transfer of products from the loading station L onto the conveyor (12) and from the conveyor (12) to the unloading station U is therefore smoothly undertaken. A lid arm (84) supports a lid (90) which can be selectively moved into and out of engagement with products supported on the conveyor (12) to selectively close or open the products. The baking chamber (150) in which the towers (15a and 15b) are located can be partitioned by a partition wall (180) to divide the chamber (150) into compartments.
