    • In the polymerization of C3-C12- alpha -olefins, the activity of the catalyst and the isotacticity and molecular weight of the polymer product can be adjusted and improved in a controlled manner by a new process wherein: A) a catalyst system is prepared by bringing a support which comprises magnesium chloride, a derivative thereof or a reagent forming it into contact with at least titanium tetrachloride or a reagent forming it, in order to produce a titanated support; by bringing the titanated support into contact with at least a group 1, 2 or 13 metal compound which contains a C1-C10-alkyl and activates titanium tetrachloride to a catalytically active titanium group, in order to produce an activated support; and by bringing a substance selected from among the said support, titanated support and activated support into contact with at least one donor or a reagent forming it, in order to produce a catalyst system; B) polymerization is carried out using the catalyst system by bringing it into contact with at least a C3-C12- alpha -olefin, whereupon poly-C3-C12- alpha -olefin chains are formed in the catalytically active titanium groups, and preferably by bringing the said catalyst system, the said C3-C12- alpha -olefin and the said poly-C3-C12- alpha -olefin chains into contact with hydrogen or some other similar chain transfer agent, whereupon a poly-C3-C12- alpha -olefin terminated with hydrogen or suchlike is formed. In the process the improvement is achieved so that, in step A), i) a first controlled amount of a less soluble internal donor and a second controlled amount of a more soluble internal donor are provided on the surface of the said support, titanated support or activated support, in order to produce an internal donoration product, and ii) the internal donoration product is brought into contact with at least one eluant eluting the more soluble internal donor and with at least one external donor or a reagent forming it, in order to produce an external donoration product, the catalyst system thereby formed having at least catalytically active titanium groups, the said first controlled amount of the less soluble internal donor and the said second controlled amount comprising external donor.

    • The invention relates to a composition containing magnesium, titanium, halogen and an inner electron donor. The composition is soluble, and it is prepared by bringing into contact with each other at a prescribed temperature and reacting the complex MgX 2.nR OH, where X is a halogen, R is a C1-C20 alkyl, and n is in the range 2.0-6.4, a titanium tetrahalide TiX 4, where X is a halogen, and a carboxylic acid ester, to yield a reaction product. The said reaction product is obtained in the liquid, preferably dissolved, state by using: (a) carboxylic acid ester that contains at least 8.j carbon atoms and is compatible with the following Formula (I): R (COOR )j, where R is a j-valen C1-C34 hydrocarbon group, R is a C6-C20 alkyl group, and j is an integer from 1 to 4; (b) a molar ratio R (COOR )j/MgX .nR OH that is >/= approximately 0.8/j; (c) a molar ratio TiX 4/MgX 2.nR OH that is >/= approximately n; (d) possibly an organic dissolvent substance S; and (e) a temperature that is in the range 40-200 DEG C.

    • The present invention relates to a procatalyst composition for the polymerization of alfa-olefines, which has been prepared in steps, in which is arranged a carrier agent based on at least one inorganic oxide, having few or no hydroxyl groups on its surface, and the carrier agent is reacted with the magnesium compound and one or more transition metal compounds of the groups IVB an VB of the periodic table. It has been observed that such a catalyst is most advantageous when a) this carrier agent is impregnated with a mixture of the Mg compound and one or more compounds of a transition metal of the groups IVb or Vb of the periodic table, which dissolves the Mg compound, and b) by chlorinating with a compound that does not contain titanium so that 1) the carrier is first treated with a mixture in the form of a solution of the Mg compound and the transition metal compound and the product thus obtained is chlorinated, or 2) the carrier is first chlorinated and subsequently treated with the above mixture in the form of a solution, or 3) the Mg compound and the transition metal compound are impregnated into the carrier without any separate dissolving and the product thus obtained is chlorinated.
