    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent incombustible material which is excellent in transparency, has flame retardancy, is light in weight, hardly cracked, and has impact resistance and from which harmful gas is not generated even if exposed to heat, and to provide a method for manufacturing the transparent incombustible material.SOLUTION: The transparent incombustible material has such a structure that each of the upper and the lower surfaces of glass fiber-reinforced plastic (GFRP) is layered and covered with a clay film. The transparent incombustible material is obtained by arranging the clay film on each of the upper and lower surfaces of a glass fiber-woven fabric, arranging the clay film-arranged glass fiber-woven fabric in a molding die, injecting a thermosetting resin into the resulting molding die and carrying out integral molding. Through-holes for venting gas are formed on the clay film. The transparent incombustible material is used mainly as indoor/outdoor building materials, members for illumination apparatuses, illuminated signboards and protective covers for solar cells, display elements, etc.
