摘要： Novel starch-based glue paste compositions are disclosed composed of (i) a carrier paste containing 5 to 16 wt% of a starch selected from the group consisting of corn starch, wheat starch, rye starch, oat starch, barley starch, potato starch, tapioca starch and pea starch, each being native starch or chemically modified starch, or any mixture thereof and (ii) a main paste with a total starch content of 25 to 50 wt% composed of a mixture of 10 to 30 wt% native rice starch or an acetylated version thereof having an amylose content of 12 to 20 wt%, 1 wt% other compounds and a complementary amylopectin content of 87 to 79 wt%, and 90 to 70 wt% of a starch or mixture of starches selected from the above defined group. Processes for the manufacture of the novel glue paste compositions based on the Stein-Hall method are disclosed, as well as a premix of starches for said manufacture. The glue paste compositions present excellent film forming and glueing properties and are particularly suitable for the manufacture of laminated corrugated board.

摘要： A new class of saccharide esters is disclosed consisting of saccharide esters of polyhydroxyalkanoic acids and polyhydroxyalkenoic acids, saccharide esters of hydroxy- alkanoyloxy- and polyhydroxyalkanoyloxy-substituted alkyl carbamic acids, and saccharide esters of hydroxyalkenoyl- oxy- and polyhydroxyalkenoyloxy-substituted alkenyl carbamic acids, their preparation and surface-active properties. Also disclosed are the use of the esters as surfactant, typically as emulsifier/emulsion stabiliser and as dispersant/suspension stabiliser, as well as compositions, in particular emulsions and suspensions, comprising esters of the invention. Preferred esters are composed of a saccharide moiety derived from inulin or dextrin and a polyhydroxyalkanoyl moiety derived from a poly-12-hydroxy- stearic acid (PHS-acid). The saccharide esters are particularly suitable for the preparation of stable W/O emulsions, preferably in the presence of small amounts of an electrolyte.

摘要： Pharmaceutical compositions are disclosed that present synergistic anti-cancer effects in humans and vertebrate animals, comprising a combination of a fermentable dietary fiber (FDF) which is a fructan and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with cyclo-oxygenase2 (COX2) inhibiting activity, the FDF being present in the FDF/NSAID combination in a weight ratio FDF: NSAID of minimum 1:1. Typical compositions comprise a FDF/NSAID combination wherein the FDF component is chicory inulin, oligofructose or a mixture thereof, and the NSAID component is sulindac, piroxicam or aspirin. The synergistic ant-cancer effects of the compositions are demonstrated in aberrant crypt foci studies in rats. The pharmaceutical compositions are useful in the prevention and inhibition of carcinogenesis or recurrence of cancer and for the treatment of cancer in humans and vertebrate animals. The invention also relates to a method for prevention or inhibition of carcinogenesis and recurrence of cancer and for the treatment of cancer in humans and vertebrate animals involving administration of a therapeutically effective dose of said pharmaceutical compositions to a human or vertebrate animal.

The inulin-type fructan, which is biodegradable and has no eutrophic effects on surface waters, can be used to completely substitute cationic polymeric conditioning agents in conventional cosmetic rinse-off compositions. Novel rinse-off compositions are also disclosed.

The composition inhibits the synthesis and/or release and the effects of the appetite-stimulating hormone ghrelin, and provokes a suppression of plasma ghrelin levels that in the post-absorptive period 8 hours after intake is preferably at least 30 % lower than the plasma ghrelin concentration of controls having taken only said food product. Also a method is provided for the prevention, the inhibition of the development, and the treatment of overweight, obesity and obesity-related diseases in humans and mammals. A method is provided too for suppressing plasma ghrelin levels, for inhibiting the synthesis and/or release and the effects of the appetite-stimulating hormone ghrelin, in humans and mammals. The methods involve oral intake or administration through tube feeding of a composition comprising said combination of fermentable dietary fibre and food product.

The invention further relates to novel glucoside alkyl urethanes (I), and a method for their manufacture and to compositions containing one or more of glucoside alkyl urethanes (I). The glucoside alkyl urethanes (I) have good to excellent tensio-active properties in combination with good biodegrability and they are suitable as surfactants for use in household and industrial applications, e.g. as detergents, emulsifiers, emulsion stabilisers, foaming agents, foam stabilisers, dispersants and wetting agents.
