摘要： A method of making a roofing product such as a shingle is provided. One such method includes creating a mixture (10) having at least a polymer and a filler, forming a sheet (30) from the mixture, cooling (50,52,54) the sheet, embossing (60) the sheet, forming multiple roofing products (70) from the sheet and bundling at least some of the roofing products together. This method is performed using an automated procedure. Another method of the present invention involves creating a composite roofing product using mold cavities, using a robot to transfer some of the roofing products from some of the mold cavities to a conveying system, and stacking together at least two of the roofing products that have different colors of different surface configurations.

摘要： A tilt control apparatus is provided for use on a chair having a base (12) and a backrest (16), and includes a center retainer (20) from which a pair of torsion bar segments (22) protrude. A tubular outer casing (24) is received over each torsion bar segment and is affixed to the center retainer, and an end bar retainer (26) is received on the distal end of each torsion bar segment for rotation therewith. A structure is provided for restricting axial and rotational movement of the end retainers relative to the outer casings, holding the end retainers in place on the apparatus and permitting the torsion bar segments to be pre-torqued, if desired. The center retainer and outer casings are adapted for securement together to either the base or backrest of the chair, and the end retainers are adapted for securement to the other such that the backrest can be tilted relative to the base between an upright position and a tilted position, the torsion bar segments biasing the end retainers in a direction adapted to return the backrest to the upright position. A method of assembling a tilt control apparatus is also provided, wherein the torsion bar segments are pre-torqued to set the magnitude of the biasing force exerted on the backrest.

摘要： A resistance mechanism suitable for applications such as resistance exercise equipment, cable reels, garage doors and other equipment requiring a resistive force. Resistance packs (26) include circular rims (28) and central hubs (30) connected by deformable spokes (32). The packs (26) are stacked in pairs with the rims (28) in each pair pinned together and the hubs (30) ratatable relative to one another. Each hub has a spline (34) connection with the hub of the next resistance pack in the adjacent pair. This provides a series arrangement of the resistance packs (26) which allows a long extension of the actuator with the spokes (32) of each pack being deformed only slightly. A spiral pay out pulley for the cord assists in avoiding varying resistance with extersion of the cord. The mechanism includes a preload system for applying a preload force to the resistance packs and a visual indicator for indicating the level of the preload force. An alternative construction involves forming the resistance packs in a single base having a pair of the resistance devices housed together. The devices may include arms connected by peripheral portions to provide loops that are looped around walls on the base to avoid a need for a bonded connection of the arms to the rims.

The upper ring (2) is disposed above the surgical bed. Ports (22) disposed along said upper ring (2) and connected to a vacuum source may be used to control smoke and splatters resulting from the ablative procedure and create additional airflow to further control hydration of the surgical field.
