    • A cylinder injection engine, comprising an ignition plug disposed at the upper part of a combustion chamber, a fuel injection nozzle disposed at the side part of the combustion chamber, and an intake air control means disposed in an intake tube, wherein a forward directional tumble air flow is produced in the combustion chamber by the intake air control means, the fuel injection nozzle is of the uniform-density annular (conical) spraying type or nonuniform-density spraying type, and the latter type is disposed so that a dense part faces toward the plug, rises along the intake side wall surface of the combustion chamber, and transports, to the ignition plug, the atomized fuel carried on the forward directional tumble air flow ranging from the fuel injection nozzle to the ignition plug (called the tumble guide), whereby a stratified combustion is enabled over the operating area ranging from a low speed range to a high speed range and, as a result, the emission of harmful component gas such as THC can be suppressed and the efficiency of fuel consumption can be increased.
