摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a Zr-base alloy member having excellent resistance to nodular cracking in high temp. and high pressure steam by annealing and cold working a Zr alloy after hot rolling then subjecting again the surface layer part to cold plastic working after the final annealing treatment. CONSTITUTION:Compressive load is applied on the surface of a Zr-base alloy pipe 1 subjected to the above-described final annealing treatment by pressing, for example, many pressers (balls) 2 for pressurization onto said surface while rotating the same, by which the surface of the pipe 1 is successively subjected to cold plastic working (the region of the worked structure is shown by 3 in the figure). The inside layer is made into the annealed structure and only the surface layer into the cold plastic-worked structure in the section of the pipe 1 by such cold plastic working. The worked structure has such crystal structure in which the base (0001) of the hexagonal crystal parallels preferentially with the surface of the Zr-base alloy member. As a result, the corrosion resistance of the Zr-base alloy, more particularly, zircaloy alloy is improved and therefore the performance of the apparatus thereof is improved and the service life is extended.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a zirconium base alloy of which the microstructure is improved and corrosion resistance is remarkably enhanced, in a method for annealing the Zr base alloy after hot and cold plastic workings, by applying solution heat treatment to said alloy prior to two times or more of final cold plastic workings. CONSTITUTION:After a predetermined alloying element such as Sn or Fe is dissolved in Zr, the obtained ingot is preheated to a beta region temp. and forged in order to mold the same. The next alpha- forging may be omitted because carried out in order to regulate a demension. In the next stage, said treated ingot is formed into a fuel rod coating pipe for a nuclear reactor by hot working and thereafter subjected to first solution heat treatment. This treatment heats the pipe from the temp. after final hot working to a phase or an (alpha+beta) phase and rapidly cools the same. After this treatment, treated pipe is further heated to the (alpha+beta) phase and cooled rapidly. Imperfect solution heat treatment is also effective. In the next stage, two times or more of final cold rolling and annealing are carried out but tne effect of the aforementioned solution heat treatment is not lost until a final material is obtained.

摘要： PURPOSE:To fine the coarse granular region of build-up part and prevent hydrogen brittleness by performing build-up welding of the groove faces by the filler metal of the specific components, thence performing regular welding. CONSTITUTION:Prior to regular welding, the groove faces are subjected to build- up welding by using the pure iron or the filler material containing one or two or more kinds of chromium; 5% or less, molybdenum; 1% or less, titanium; 0.3% or less, niobium; 0.5% or less based on weight as carbide forming elements stable against hydrogen erosion, to thicknesses 2-6mm. Next, in the regular welding, the welding is so executed that the foregoing build-up metal 1 remains 1-4mm. Further the regular welding final layer 2 is welded in accordance with build-up procedure. As a reason for limiting these, the upper limit of the components, with regards to the components, is limited to achieve the improvement of toughness and weldability. With regards to thickness, the lower limit is determined to ease welding procedure and the upper limit is determined in order to let the heat affection at the regular welding reach the coarse crystal part.

CONSTITUTION:In the cooling step where a weld metal directly after welding is cooled, the variation in the temperatures of weld metal and the heat influenced part are detected by a temperature senser 5 fitted to the side surface of a pressure forging blow part 1, and pressure forging is carried out by a blow hammer 2. By the application of the forging and plastic processing, reduction of residual stress of the weld metal and conversion of compression stress are attempted, and the joint part comes to have high strength and high tenacity. Also, high temperature cracks are difficult to be generated. Further, when the head part of the blow hammer 2 is rendered into a flat head conical type, crotching in a workpiece 9 and spraying are effectively prevented.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve crossion resistance and hydrogen absorption characteristics by composing at least one of a cladding tube for nuclear fuel, a spacer for a nuclear fuel assembly and a channel box for a nuclear fuel assembly of an alloy made of specific materials in specific proportions. SOLUTION: In a fuel assembly for a nuclear reactor, at least one of a cladding tube, a spacer and a channel box is made of an alloy of the following composition in weight percentage. The alloy contains tin of about 1.20 to 2%, iron of about 0.20 to 0.5%, chromium of about 0.05 to 0.15% and nickel of about 0.03% to 0.16%, with the rest constituted materially of zirconium. These metal elements constitute a zirconium-group alloy where the proportion of iron to nickel is about 1.4 to 10. After hot plastic working, this alloy is heated and maintained for a short time in a β phase or a temperature range containing α and β phases and then is rapidly cooled before cold working. Subsequently, cool plastic working and anneal working are repeated alternately and shaping work is done by forming a thin-wall material made of a zirconium-group alloy. This makes it possible to obtain an alloy which is excellent in corrosion resistance and absorbs little hydrogen and enables the higher burn-up of fuel.
