    • PURPOSE:To completely seal the pores in the anodic oxide film of an anodically oxidized Al material in an energy saving manner by immersing the Al material in an aq. soln. contg. a specified water soluble org. polymer and a specified transition metal compd. CONSTITUTION:When an anodically oxidized Al or Al alloy material is coated, satisfactory corrosion resistance is not obtd. in a corrosive environment because many pores are present in the anodic oxide film. In order to seal the pores, the anodically oxidized material is immersed in an aq. soln. contg. 0.1-50g/l poly(meth)acrylic acid having 200-12,000 degree of polymn. as a water soluble org. polymer and 0.3-2.0 times as much transition metal compd. as the polymer or further contg. an aq. ammonia soln. and the material is taken out and dried. The transition metal is a group IVa, Va or VIa transition metal such as Ti, Zr, V, Cr or Mo. Pore sealing treatment can be carried out with considerably saved energy as compared with conventional treatment with boiling water for a long time and superior corrosion resistance is attained after coating.
