    • One embodiment provides a vehicle disc brake including: a caliper body; a caliper bracket having a pair of caliper support arms; a pair of friction pads; and a pad return spring. Each caliper support arm has a pair of pad guide grooves, and a pair of lug pieces extending from the friction pad are supported movably therein. An outer surface of each lug piece is stepped such that a projecting length on a radially outer side is shorter than a projecting length on a radially inner side, thereby defining a space portion between the lug piece and the pad guide groove. A first imaginary line, which is defined to pass a gravity center of the friction pad and to intersect perpendicularly a center line connecting a center of a disc rotor and a center of a piston, passes the space.

    • Disclosed herein is a disc brake. The disc brake which has a carrier in which a pair of pad plates are installed retractably and a caliper housing having a cylinder that is slidably installed in the carrier and in which a piston is installed retractably by a braking hydraulic pressure includes an adjuster that is installed inside the piston to prevent the pad plate from being away from the disc and maintain a predetermined running clearance between the disc and the pad plate, a push rod whose front portion is screwed to the adjuster and whose rear portion extends toward an inner circumferential surface of the cylinder so that rotation is prevented, and that includes a flange portion installed inside the cylinder, a ramp that is disposed on a front side of the flange portion, and in which a first elastic member for providing an elastic force to the push rod is integrally provided, a spring case whose one end is fixed to the cylinder, and that forms a predetermined accommodating space between the inner circumferential surface of the cylinder and the push rod, and a second elastic member that is provided in the accommodating space of the spring case to provide an elastic force to the ramp and the push rod. Here, the first and second elastic members are arranged in series, and the first elastic member is bent so that a part of the ramp is elastically deformed.

The electric caliper brake includes a carrier to which a pair of pad plates are mounted, a caliper housing which is slidably mounted to the carrier and is provided with a cylinder containing a piston, a spindle unit including a screw which penetrates a rear portion of the cylinder and is configured to rotate by receiving rotational force from an actuator and a nut which is screw-engaged with the screw in the piston and configured to move forward and backward according to rotation of the screw so as to pressurize the piston and release pressurization, a fixing element fixed to a rear inner peripheral surface of the piston, and an elastic element having one end supported by the nut and the other end supported by the fixing element and configured to return the piston to an original position when braking is released.

    • A retraction arrangement for moving a piston in a bore of a caliper to a position of rest after each brake application. The retraction arrangement includes a cylindrical body with a plurality of inward projecting fingers that engage and apply a radial spring force on the piston. Each finger is defined by a cylindrical section that transitions into a first arcuate section that transitions into a radial section that transition into a second arcuate section that engages the piston. The second arcuate section moves with the piston during a brake application causing the fingers to pivots with respect to the cylindrical body resulting in a decrease in the radial spring force while creating an increasing axial spring force in each finger. On termination of the brake application, the axial spring force returns the piston to the position of rest to establish a running clearance between a friction member and the rotor.

    • A disc brake caliper carries at least one braking element to face the disc side, and the caliper is mounted to shift in one direction relative to the disc in order to bring that element into braking engagement with one side of the disc in response to actuating force exertion on the caliper; and retractor means is provided to yieldably resist such shifting of the caliper and to displace the latter in the opposite direction to carry the braking element out of braking engagement with the disc in response to reduction of actuating force exertion. The caliper may be mounted on a shaft to compress a spring in response to caliper shifting; spring compression force may be transmitted to the shaft via a part frictionally gripping the shaft; and that part may be shiftable along the shaft only in response to exertion of force substantially greater than that required to fully compress the spring, thereby to compensate for brake element wear.
