    • In one or more embodiments taught herein, a multi-band MIMO repeater is configured to translate normal wireless mobile bands into other frequency bands in the physical layer. An advantageous, multi-hop repeater chain includes two or more such repeaters, for propagating downlink signals from a base station, and for propagating uplink signals to the base station. Each such repeater may use paralleled homodyne structure transceivers for better SNR, spectrum combiners for uplink signal aggregation, spectrum separators for downlink signal de-aggregation, water mark signal inserters for optimization, and, among other things, spectrum analyzers for frequency band selection. In at least one such embodiment, a multi-hop repeater chain is configured for MIMO operation in an LTE Advanced or other MIMO network, to deliver high data rate over larger distances—e.g., further away from cell base stations.

    • The invention provides an efficient technique for encoding a multi-channel audio signal. The invention relies on the principle of encoding (S1) a signal representation of one or more of the multiple channels in a first encoding process, and encoding another signal representation of one or more channels in a second, filter-based encoding process. A basic idea according to the invention is to select (S2), for the second encoding process, a combination of i) frame division configuration of an overall encoding frame into a set of sub-frames, and ii) filter length for each sub-frame, according to a predetermined criterion. The second signal representation is then encoded (S3) in each sub-frame of the overall encoding frame according to the selected combination. The possibility to select frame division configuration and at the same time adjust the filter length for each sub-frame provides added degrees of freedom, and generally results in improved performance.

    • Method and apparatus for providing an afterburner fuel-feed arrangement including an elongate fuel spraybar for distributing fuel to the afterburner section of a turbo-combustion engine. The spraybar has a longitudinal axis and includes a fuel-receiving spray head in fluid communication with a plurality of elongate fuel pipes surrounded by an elongate, aerodynamic-shaped shroud. The spray head is configured to be mounted in a casing of a turbo-combustion engine which projects the surrounded fuel pipes into an interior through-core of the engine in cross-wise orientation to a core gas flow thereof. The shroud has an interior lateral sidewall that includes a pipe-receiving portion configured to abuttingly engage a corresponding shroud-engaging portion of an exterior surface of one of the fuel pipes. The pipe-receiving portion is configured to substantially radially fix a fuel pipe, received therein, relative to the shroud. In this manner, the fuel pipes are supported along their length, and when the pipes are abuttingly engaged with the shroud, the braced configuration is stiffened which raises the eigenfrequencies of the assembly into ranges higher than those of the incorporating engine.

    • Disclosed are methods and compositions for the preparation of steroid 5.alpha.-reductases by recombinant means, as well as for the use of these enzymes in screening assays for the identification of compounds which have the ability to inhibit or otherwise alter the enzymatic function of these enzymes. Biochemical and pharmacological evidence is presented to demonstrate the existence of more than one human steroid 5.alpha.-reductase. The DNA sequence encoding steroid 5.alpha.-reductase 2, the major active isozyme of human genital tissue, is disclosed herein, in addition to methods and compositions for its preparation and pharmacological analysis. The sequences disclosed herein may be used directly in the preparation of genetic constructs, or may be employed in the preparation of hybridization probes for the selection of enzyme-encoding sequences from other sources. These sequences may prove useful in an analysis of normal and abnormal sexual differentiation, benign prostatic hyperplasia, male pattern baldness, acne, hirsutism, endometriosis, and cancer of the prostate.

    • A transceiver front-end of a communication device comprises a frequency blocking arrangement, which may be either a transmit frequency blocking arrangement or a receive frequency blocking arrangement.
