    • In some implementations, bending or other shape changes of a device are actuated by inflating or deflating a bladder in the device. Then, once the desired new shape is achieved by this actuation, another bladder in the device is layer-jammed, to make the device rigid in the new shape. In some cases, sheets in the layer-jamming bladder are coated with abrasive particles. In some cases, layer jamming bladders are interwoven to form a woven device. The rigidity of the woven device can be anisotropically controlled. Layer jamming some, but not all, of the bladders in the woven device causes the woven device to have a rigidity that varies by direction. In some cases, a layer-jamming bladder includes a solid layer with a crease in it. As a result, the bladder can easily bend at the crease.

    • An image processing apparatus includes: an output unit that outputs a tone-correction-parameter generation sheet and a scanner-profile generation sheet identical in layout of patch columns, each containing patches of different tone values, formed thereon; a scanning unit that scans the patches at scanner positions on a platen; a scanner-profile creating unit that creates, for each of the scanner positions, a scanner profile specifying a relationship between readout values of patches on the scanner-profile generation sheet and color measurement values of the patches measured with a colorimeter; a color-measurement-value deriving unit that determines, from readout values of the patches on the tone-correction-parameter generation sheet and the scanner profiles for the scanner positions, color measurement values of the patches; and a calculating unit that calculates a tone correction parameter for correcting differences between the color measurement values and target color measurement values for the patches on the tone-correction-parameter generation sheet.

    • An image processing device includes an image output unit, an image input unit, and a tone-correction-parameter generation unit. The image output unit outputs a tone-correction-parameter generation sheet to generate a parameter for correcting a tone of an input image. The tone-correction-parameter generation sheet includes a plurality of patches for at least two types of screens. At least one of the at least two types of screens includes more patches of an identical color and tone than at least another of the at least two types of screens. The image input unit inputs a representative value of each patch read from the tone-correction-parameter generation sheet outputted by the image output unit. The tone-correction-parameter generation unit generates the parameter in accordance with a plurality of representative values inputted by the image input unit.

    • An image forming apparatus includes a photoreceptor drum, a charging part, an exposure unit, a developing part which feeds a photoreactive toner, a color formation exposure part, a transfer part, a recording medium feeding part, a fixing part, and a control unit part which controls operations of the above elements.
