    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the drag torque produced at braking off, without marring the braking force at braking on, as much as possible.
      SOLUTION: This is a single row turn system of eddy current type reduction gear. A ferromagnetic plate 11, of quality difference from that of a switch plate 4, is arranged at the outside periphery or inside on outside periphery side of each support 5, so that it contacts with at least the switch plate 4 on the front end side in the rotational direction of the rotor 1, or the ferromagnetic plate 11 of quality different from that of the switch plate 4 is attached to the topside of the switch plate 4 on the front end side in the rotational direction of the rotor 1, being directed toward the switch plate 4 on the rear side in the rotational direction of the rotor 4 from the switch plate 4 on the front end side. Consequently, since this will not impair the braking force at braking-on as far as possible, this can suppress the magnetic flux generated from a permanent magnet, as matter of course, the magnetic flux leaking out to the cylinder of the rotor from switch plate decreases, accompanying the decrease of the magnetic flux generated from the permanent magnet at this braking-off, and this can suppress the drag torque.

In order to reduce a thermal stress caused by the terminal expansion of the inner pipe 3 and the outer pip 2 of a composite pipe 1, the inner pipe 3 exposed to high temperature is constructed of a material having small thermal expansion coefficient and the outer pipe 2 exposed to low temperature of a material having a large thermal expansion coefficient. Besides, the inner pipe 3 is made of a material being excellent in an oxidation resistance and a high-temperature strength, while the outer pipe 2 is made of a material being excellent in a corrosion resistance, in view of its direct contact with the air and so as to prevent the damage from salt at a high temperature in a cold district. Therefor a ferrite stainless steel pipe is used for the inner pipe 3 and an austenite stainless steel pipe for the outer pipe 2.

    • PURPOSE:To continuously cast a cast slab having excellent surface characteristic by forming the heat resistant layer of specific layer thickness composed of iron oxide on surface of molten metal surface of an endless belt. CONSTITUTION:In the endless belt for twin belt type continuous casting machine, the heat resistant layer composed of the iron oxide having 50-200mum layer thickness is formed on the surface at molten metal side of the above endless belt. The above iron oxide heat resistant layer contg. Fe3O4 as the essential component can be easily formed by holding the steel plate-made belt at high temp. in a furnace of the air atmosphere for a long time. This heat resistant layer has uniform surface and does not develop crack and detachment. Further, if necessary, graphite series coating is applied on this surface to improve lubricating ability. By using this endless belt, the cast slab having excellent surface characteristic can be continuously cast.
