    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely mount a shroud without damaging the welding bevel at the lower end by adding to a jack a fine control function of the core shroud in peripheral and radial directions. SOLUTION: At the upper part of core shroud support device 8, a fine control mechanism with a motor 8d is provided to enable controlling vertical direction. Before the core shroud is carried in and mounted on the upper surface of a shroud support cylinder 2, the support 16 is supported with a frame 8e on the upper surface of the device 8 so that a shroud 7 is temporarily supported with the device 8. As jacks are fixed with the use of holes from the upper surface of control rod drive mechanism housing 6 standing on the lower head of the reactor pressure vessel, the support device 8 of the shroud 7 makes it possible to mount the shroud 7 on the upper surface of a cylinder 4 by temporarily receiving the support of the shroud 7 with the jacks before mounting on the shroud support upper surface and then lowering the jacks.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent an excessive rise in the internal pressure of a fuel rod even when burning is made to a high burnup and thereby to maintain the soundness of fuel without causing an economic disadvantage such as a rise in the cost of manufacture, in a fuel assembly of a light water reactor containing a mixed oxide fuel rod. CONSTITUTION:A fuel assembly is constructed by assembling mixed oxide fuel rods 2, uranium oxide fuel rods 3 and water rods in the shape of an 8X8 square lattice. The mixed oxide fuel rod 2 is constructed by packing a large number of solid mixed oxide pellets 7 in a cladding tube 6 and by sealing the upper and lower ends hermetically with end plugs 9 and 10 by welding, and a helium gas 11 of about 0.9atm at a room temperature at the time of manufacture is filled in a free space of the tube. The uranium oxide fuel rod 3 has the same dimension in the radial direction as the mixed oxide fuel rod 2 and is constructed by packing a large number of uranium oxide pellets 12 in a cladding tube 6 of the same material as the above and by sealing the upper and lower ends hermetically with the end plugs 9 and 10 by welding, and in the free space thereof, a helium gas 11 of about 5atm at the room temperature at the time of manufacture is filled.

    • PURPOSE:To easily discover directional erroneous mounting of fuel rod arrangement and an upper tie plate and previously prevent erroneous loading by forming plural kinds of plural water rod upper end caps engaged with an upper tie plate. CONSTITUTION:A water rod 1a is composed of welding a water rod upper end cap and a water rod lower end cap on the upper and lower ends of a water rod tube 2 in which water flows. A water rod 1b is composed of the same as the water rod 1a, but tabs for determining an axial direction position of a spacer which holds fuel rod intervals are welded at several places. The end shape of a water rod upper end cap 3a of the water rod 1a of non-tab is circular and the end shape of the water rod upper end cap 3b of the water rod 1b with the tabs is flat. The cross section shape of a water rod lower end cap 4a of the water rod 1a is circular and the cross section shape of a water rod lower end cap 4b of the water rod 1b with the tabs is square.
