    • The present invention allows easy mounting of the lower daughter board or card in a card edge connector assembly in which two cards are stacked. The sub-assembly (19) is attached via an upper or second pair of latch members (8) to the supporting shafts (22) that protrude from both ends of the housing (6) which is long in the lateral direction. Projecting or supporting parts (82) are caused to protrude outward from both ends of the rear part of the housing (6), so that the sub-assembly (19) is maintained in an open state. The lower or first daughter board (96) is inserted at an inclination into the lower accommodating recess (4) as shown in FIG. 6(A), and is pressed downward as indicated by the arrow (C), so that the first daughter board (96) is attached to the lower or first pair of latch members (10). The second pair of latch members (8) are rotated prior to the insertion of the first daughter board (96), so that the second pair of latch members (8) are withdrawn to the outside of the insertion path of the first daughter board (96). Accordingly, the second pair of latch members (8) do not interfere with the insertion of the first daughter board (96).

    • Card connector 10 includes a housing 30, a sliding lever 50 and a cam member 70 which cooperate to eject a card received within the card connector. In a side 33b of the housing 30, a recess 21 and a cantilever arm 36 overlapping the recess 21 are provided. When a pivot 72a, 72b of the cam member 70 is inserted in the recess 21, the cantilever arm is bent allowing for the insertion of the cam member 70. After the cam member 70 is inserted to its predetermined position in the recess, the cantilever arm returns to its original position locking the cam member in place. A spring 90 of metal wire is mounted along a front edge of the housing 30 springably engaging lever 50.

    • A card connector is provided wherein a memory card or other such card housed in the connector can be prevented from falling out of the connector when the card is ejected, and wherein the card can be taken out of the connector with ease. The card connector is such that one side (12) of a housing (10) that houses a card (80) is provided with an ejector mechanism (50) having a cam member (30) that pushes out and ejects the card (80) from the housing. The other side (13) of the housing (10) is provided with a resilient member (60) that engages with a straight lateral edge (81) of the card (80) ejected by the cam member (30), and that restricts the movement of the card (80) in the ejection direction.

    • A first connector 30 mounted on an upper surface of a substrate 10 has a first contact 38 which contacts with a card 32 inserted from one end and extends through a through hole 22 of the substrate 10 at the other end. The first contact 38 is supported by the first connector 30 in a distant position from the substrate 10, and a connecting portion 38c thereof and the through hole 22 are spaced apart. A second connector 60 has a second contact 66 which contacts with an external connector 90 inserted from one end and the connecting portion 38c of the first contact 38 inserted from the other end. The substrate 10, the first and second connectors 30 and 60 are connected each other by connection between the connecting portion 38c and a spring 66c. The first and second connectors 30 and 60 include shield shells 40 and 68 covering the first and second connectors 30 and 60, respectively, and the shield shells 40 and 68 are maintained in the same electric potential through a ground electrode of the substrate 10 to effectively prevent unwanted emission caused by a ground potential difference between connectors.
