    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the warping of a substrate and to prevent the deterioration of optical coupling efficiency so as to obtain a switch by means of a low cost with small insertion loss by forming an optical waveguide path by means of an organic material. SOLUTION: The switch consists of an SUS 304 substrate 8, a cantilever 9 which is formed in the hollow part of the SUS 304 substrate 8 in a mobile state and where a tip is connected, a mobile side optical waveguide 2 formed on the cantilever 9, driving mechanism consisting of a magnetic film 3 and an electromagnetic actuator 4, a fixed side optical waveguide 6 receiving an optical signal from the mobile side optical waveguide 2, an input fiber 1 making light incident to the mobile side optical waveguide 2 and an output side optical fiber 5 taking-out the optical signal from the fixed side optical waveguide 6. The optical waveguide paths 2 and 6 are formed by the organic material in an optical waveguide type optical switch with this kinds of configuration. In the optical switch, the contact part of a connecting member and the substrate is projected from an organic material layer in the both of the connecting members of the optical waveguides 2 and 6 and also the substrate at a position where the connecting members are brought into contact at the time of changing-over an optical path.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a space connection type optical switching system, using a reflector which achieves reduction of optical loss, by optimally adjusting the optimum state of the reflector, and to provide a method for aligning the optical axis. The optical switching system (a) generates a reference beam, the wavelength of which is substantially different from the input light, (b) reflects the generated reference beam by the first and second reflectors with the input light, (c) selectively branches the reference beam from reflected light to detect light intensity, and controls the attitude of the first and second reflectors, so that the intensity of the input light is maximized.
