    • PURPOSE: A device and a method for judging an area of an optical disc are provided to distinguish an inner and an outer circumference area of the disc by using a number of an ATIP(Absolute Time in Pregroove) sync. CONSTITUTION: A pickup(501) reads/records a signal from the optical disc(500). A spindle motor(502) rotates the optical disc. A controller(503) counts the ATIP sync number per a rotation of the optical disc if the pickup is placed in the area over 95 minutes, and judges the current position of the pickup by comparing the counted ATIP sync number with a reference number. The controller includes a memory(503-1) storing the ATIP sync number per each track, a counter(503-2) counting the ATIP sync number of each track on the current position of the pickup, and a position judging part(503-3) by comparing the counted ATIP sync number with the reference ATIP number stored in the memory.

    • PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for reproducing a video signal are provided to always store digital video signals, thereby watching already passed information without the intention to reproduce the digital video signals. CONSTITUTION: A tuner(100) obtains TS(Transport Stream) for transmitting the same to a gateway(102). A DVD(Digital Versatile Disk) player(101) extracts PS(Program Stream) from a DVD media for transmitting the same to the gateway. The gateway receives the TS and PS for transmitting the same to a ring buffer(103) and a decoder(106), and receives repetitive playback on/off signals. The ring buffer stores the TS, PS or PES. A DMA(Direct Memory Access)(104) transmits the stored TS, PS or PES(Packetized Elementary Stream) to the decoder. A main control unit(102-1) controls the whole operations of a system. The decoder decodes the data transmitted from the ring buffer for outputting a reproducing signal.

A pair of centering guides(104) are provided to hold the circumference of the wafer(108). A centering guide arm(106) is connected to the centering guides(104). The centering guide arm(106) controls the centering guides(104) in the left, right, upper and lower directions. The sides of the centering guides(104) making contact with the side of the wafer(108) are longer than the length of a flat zone of the wafer(108).
