    • Novel techniques of access network selection in multi-access network environment are provided, which allow for avoiding access selection loops for independent access selection processes. The multi-access network environment provides a first access selection function, e.g. a 3GPP access selection function, and a second access selection function, e.g. an ANDSF based access selection function. At least a portion of the first access selection function (565) may be implemented by a network component (560). At least a portion of the second access selection function (110) may be implemented by a user equipment (100), e.g. a mobile terminal. According to the proposed concepts, a selection priority information of the first access selection function (565) is made available to the second access selection function (110).

    • The present invention relates to a method and arrangement for making a handover decision in a multi-access communication network comprising a core network (30) and at least one user terminal network (10) communicating with said core network (30) on at least two access paths (a, b) via at least two access networks (20a, 20b), whereby data sessions are routed on at least a first access path (a) via a first access network (20a) and a second access path (b) via a second access network (20b). A first set of criteria is determined by an Access Network control Function (ANF) (25a, 25b) for when a handover between said at least two access paths (a, b) should be performed and a report is sent to an Access Selection Function (ASF) (34) when at least one criterion of said first set of criteria is fulfilled. A second set of criteria is determined by a Connection Management Function (CMF) (14) for when a handover between said at least two access paths (a, b) should be performed and a report is sent to the ASF (34) when at least one criterion of said second set of criteria is fulfilled. The ASF (34) determines one or more data sessions of said at least one user terminal network (10) to be handed over based on the sent reports and directs a core network anchor (32) and a terminal anchor (12) to execute a handover by re-routing said determined data sessions from one access path (a, b) to an alternative access path (a, b).

    • In a method for the transmission of data packets (D) from a transmitter (TR) to a receiver (RE) identification of transmitted data packets are stored. Defective data packets (D) are detected by the receiver (RE), status messages (S) which request defective data packets for retransmission are sent from the receiver (RE) to the transmitter (TR) and retransmissions of requested data packets are performed according to the status messages (S). The transmitter (TR) evaluates a first status message (S 11 ) with an identification of at least one first requested data packet and retransmits the first data packet. Only the selected data packets are retransmitted. A transmitter and software programs embodying the invention are also described.
