    • The invention relates to a method and a device for improving a data throughput in a transmission via communication network, especially in a channel switch, where a newly assigned channel has a smaller transmission rate. A decision on the channel switch is thereby taken in an administration unit, which is communicated to a provision unit. Upon receipt of the communication, the transmission parameters of an old and a new channel are stored. On the basis of said information an adaptation to the transmission parameters of the new channel is performed. If the communication takes place prior to the performance of the channel switch, the number of data packets transmitted is reduced so as to achieve a better adaptation and to avoid abrupt changes in the transmission rate. If the communication on a channel switch takes place only after the performance thereof, the abrupt reduction of the transmission rate is compensated in that more data are temporarily transmitted in addition to the proportionally permitted transmission rate of the new channel.
