    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To curtail consumption of compressed air. SOLUTION: This is an ON-OFF change-over gear which has a pair of cylinders 10a, 10b arranged at opposite positions of a rotating support ring 3b, to rotate the rotating ring 3b by a specified angle with respect to a supporting substance 2, and is used for an eddy current reduction gear wherein a stationary support ring 3a and the rotating ring 3b composed by fitting a plurality of permanent magnets 6a, 6b circumferentially with their polarities opposite to each other to the support substance 2 supported with a shaft 5 are arranged in parallel, and a plurality of switch boards 7 insulated magnetically from each other are contraposed on the peripheral magnetic pole surfaces of these groups of permanent magnets. A return spring 15 is put inside at least one of the cylinders 10a, 10b, and change-over from an on-state to an off-state is performed by supplying compressed air to only the return spring 15 or to both the return spring 15 and a double acting cylinder. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce the quantity of consumption of the compressed air when the brakes are applied or released, and it also becomes unnecessary to change a small- capacity air source fitted already to a vehicle for another one.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure durability even when a rotor is used repeatedly with high damping force for a long term while reducing the thrust load at the bearing portion of a rotating shaft.
      SOLUTION: An eddy current reduction gear includes a rotor 1 connected with the rotating shaft 3 while having a disk-like damping member and fixed to a non-rotating portion, and a plurality of magnets 4 which are held by a holding member 5 fixed to the non-rotating portion and arranged such that the pole face faces the damping member and the adjoining magnetic poles turn reversely. A nonmagnetic material 1b consisting of copper or a copper alloy is provided at a part of the damping member where magnetic force of the magnet 4 acts, a protective material 1c is provided on the surface side of the nonmagnetic material 1b facing the magnet 4, and a ferromagnetic material 1a is provided on the backside of the nonmagnetic material 1b, i.e. the side opposite to the magnet 4. The nonmagnetic material 1b and the ferromagnetic material 1a are bonded directly by mutual diffusion of atoms. Consequently, the thrust load is reduced at the bearing portion of the rotating shaft, and durability of the rotor can be ensured even when used repeatedly with high damping force for a long term.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the security of strength at high revolution by suppressing the occurrence of thermal fatigue cracks due to a repeated thermal load or deformation an extending over a long period of use.
      SOLUTION: This eddy current decelerator allows a permanent magnet 15 to be connected and disconnected to/from a rotor 13, coupled to a rotating shaft 12 via a support member 11. The rotor 13 is constituted of a braking member 13b, which is counterposed to the permanent magnet 15, and a support plate 13a, which couples the braking member 13b with the support member 11. The braking member 13b is divided into two or more pieces in its circumferential direction, while the periphery of the support member 13a is provided with at least as many grooves 13aa as the number of divisions of the braking member 13b. When two or more braking members 13b are integrally fixed to the support plate 13a, respective divided braking members 13b have clearances c, and they are fixed so that these clearances c are opened, in matching with the grooves 13aa.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy current speed reducer which can improve braking force or an eddy current speed reducer which can reduce the attraction of a permanent magnet.
      SOLUTION: This eddy current speed reducer is equipped with a braking member which is coupled with a rotating shaft, at least twenty poles or more of permanent magnets which are arranged so that the magnetic pole faces may confront the braking face of the above braking member and that an eddy current may be generated in the above braking member, a retaining member which is fixed to the non-rotation part of a vehicle and retains the above permanent magnet, and a switching mechanism which switches the above permanent magnet between the time of braking and the time of non-braking. By the multipolarization of the permanent magnets, the braking force rises, thus this speed reducer can reduce the use of the permanent magnets for getting braking force equal with conventional. Moreover, this can effectively reduce the attraction of the magnets, and can downsize the switching mechanism. Furthermore, since the weight of individual permanent magnets becomes small, it becomes possible to fix the permanent magnets by an adhesive or the like.
