    • Methods and systems for sensing a position of a transducer head with respect to a storage medium. One method includes generating a read signal from a servo track stored on a magnetic storage medium. The servo track includes servo frames of magnetic flux transitions forming detectable servo marks, the servo marks forming a tone field of repeating servo marks oriented at a first azimuth angle and a mid-frame synchronization mark incorporated within the tone field, wherein the tone field provides a metric reference for dimensional measurements between features within the servo frame(s). The number of servo marks in the tone field of each servo frame along a longitudinal direction of the servo track before the mid-frame synchronization mark and after the mid-frame synchronization mark varies with lateral position.

    • The present invention relates to pulse tube refrigerators for recondensing cryogenic liquids. In particular, the present invention relates to the same for magnetic resonance imaging systems. In many cryogenic applications components, e.g. superconducting coils for magnetic resonance imaging (mri), superconducting transformers, generators, electronics, are cooled by keeping them in contact with a volume of liquified gases (e.g. helium, neon, nitrogen, argon, methane). In a first aspect, the present invention provides a pulse tube refrigerator PTR pulse tube refrigerator (PTR) arrangement within a cryogenic apparatus, wherein a regenerator tube of the PTR is finned. In this configuration the fins or baffles, are believed to increase the surface area available for distributed heat transfer from the helium atmosphere to the regenerator.

    • In a magnetic resonance method and apparatus for generating an analysis of an inflammation of a joint, for determining a proteoglycan proportion of a joint, and for generating an analysis of osteoarthritis of a joint, for a predetermined region within a body of a patient, a three-dimensional MR image data set is generated with a magnetic resonance imaging scanner. At least, a portion of a joint is located within the region. For each of several different automatically determined layers, a two-dimensional MR image is calculated from the three-dimensional MR image data set. For each layer, the thickness of a predetermined tissue, which is represented in the two-dimensional MR image corresponding to the layer, is determined, by means of which an analysis of a joint inflammation is automatically determined depending on the respective thicknesses. A further layer in the region is also automatically determined and, after injecting a contrast medium, a two-dimensional T1-weighted MR image is generated for this layer, from which a proteoglycan proportion is automatically determined. From the analysis of the joint inflammation and the proteoglycan proportion, it is then possible to perform a reproducible analysis of osteoarthritis of the joint.

    • In a method to generate an anatomical image of an examination area with a magnetic resonance apparatus as well as computer program and magnetic resonance apparatus for implementation of the method, at least one image data set of the examination area and a parameter value map are loaded. The at least one loaded image data set and the loaded parameter value map are processed into an anatomical image. The processing includes a weighting of elements of the at least one image data set with a weighting factor. The weighting factor depends on a parameter value of the parameter value map corresponding to the respective element of the image data set. The generated weighted anatomical image is displayed and/or stored.
