    • Microwave antenna assemblies incorporating a resilient insulating coupler are described herein. The microwave antenna includes a radiating portion connected by a coaxial feedline to a power generating source, e.g., a generator. Distal and proximal radiating portions of the antenna, which correspond to inner and outer conductors provided by the coaxial feedline, are separated by the resilient insulating coupler. The described coupler includes a proximal threaded portion, and an overmolded insulating portion formed from an elastomeric material. The inner conductor of the coaxial feedline is joined to the threaded portion of the coupler, and is placed under tension to draw together the distal radiating portion, the coupler, and the proximal radiating portion into a single rigid assembly. In use, the resilient coupler provides increased strength and reliability by absorbing mechanical stresses typically encountered during microwave ablation procedures.

    • The invention relates to plastic bags and sack for use especially in the food and pharmaceutical industries. The bag (2) comprises inner and outer bag sections (4, 14) which are joined at least at an upper portion in a manner which allows them to be separated when required, such as by heat sealing. The outer bag section (14) may be provided with a mouth (10) through which the inner bag section can be withdrawn when required. Alternatively, the outer bag section may be peeled away from the inner bag section. The inner bag section is heat sealed after filling with contents to retain the contents in the inner portion. The heat sealing step also serves to secure the bag sections together as above. The inner bag section is preferably provided with a closeable mouth (132) separate from the end by which it is filled, through which the contents may be dispensed.

    • Rotary valve system for controlling communication with a port in an internal combustion engine which, in one disclosed embodiment, has a crankshaft, compression and expansion pistons connected to the crankshaft for reciprocating movement within compression and expansion chambers, a combustion chamber in which air from the compression chamber is combined with fuel and burned to produce an increased gas volume. The valve system has an outer valve member which is rotatively mounted in a bore and has an opening which moves into and out of communication with the port as the outer valve member rotates, an inner valve member rotatably mounted within the outer outer valve member with an opening at least partly overlapping the opening in the outer valve member, a flange extending along one edge of the opening in the inner valve member and through the opening in the outer valve member for sealing engagement with the wall of the bore, and means for effecting rotation of the valve members to change the degree of overlap between the openings and thereby control the timing and duration of communication between the openings and the port.
