    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To divide the permanent magnet of a permanent-magnet motor into belt-like pieces so as to reduce the eddy current loss of the magnet and to make the divided magnet pieces applicable to the externally rotating rotor of the motor by coating the magnet pieces with an insulating material and providing the magnet pieces to the rotor by laminating the magnet pieces upon another against a back yoke piece made of a magnetic material so that their laminated cross sections may be exposed. SOLUTION: Belt-like permanent magnet pieces 1a each having a thickness (t), a width (d), and an outer peripheral section coated with an insulating material, such as the resin, etc., are laminated upon another in the thickness direction, aligned with each other, and fixed to each other against a back yoke 1b. Grooves 1c are formed on the surface, namely, the surface which comes into contact with the magnet pieces 1a of the back yoke 1b. The thickness (t) of each magnet piece 1a is sufficiently small as compared with the width (d) and a laminated permanent magnet with back yoke is constituted of several tens of permanent magnet pieces 1a. Consequently, the efficiency of a motor can be improved by reducing eddy currents on the permanent magnets. In addition, the permanent magnet pieces 1a can be fitted easily to the rectangular back yoke piece 1b and the eddy currents on the back yoke 1b and in a whole rotor can be reduced with the grooves 1c formed on the surface of the back yoke 1b.
