    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector and an optical component that can stably maintain a proper PC connection state.
SOLUTION: In the optical connector, a resin coated optical fiber 1 is inserted in the optical fiber hole 6 of an optical ferrule 12, with the resin coated layer 9 of the optical fiber 1, fixedly adhered at least partially to the optical fiber hole 6. The resin coated layer 9 has a Young's modulus smaller in a part 9a covering the clad layer 8b than the Young's modulus of the constituent material of the ferrule 12. The tip end of the optical fiber 1 is protruded from the connection end face 4 of the optical ferrule 12.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an optical path length from the tip end of an optical fiber to an optical incident/exiting end on a circuit substrate through a reflecting surface for changing the optical axis, to prevent optical loss, as well as, maintaining superior optical accuracy, and to make miniaturization and easy manufacturing attainable, in an optical connector that has a reflecting surface for changing the optical axis. SOLUTION: A connector body 5 to be installed facing the optical incident/exiting end 3 is formed integrally in a block by using a transparent material. In this connector body 5, there is formed a blind hole 7 for an optical fiber, such that the tip end or near the tip end of the optical fiber 1 is fixedly inserted into the blind hole 7. Also, in the front of the tip end of this optical fiber 1, the reflecting surface 8 for changing the optical axis is formed, by which the axial direction of the optical fiber is turned to the optical incident/exiting end by internal reflection in the inside of the connector body 5. • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve assembly workability of an optical connector and to reduce cost.
SOLUTION: An assembling tool 1 for an optical connector has a tool body 11 having a connector support base 7, and a movable head 9 advancing and retreating to and from the connector supporting base 7 by moving along the guide 8 of the tool body 11. A master ferrule held on the movable head 9 is butted against a ferrule held on the connector support base 7 by moving the movable head 9, so that an optical fiber 4 preliminarily inserted into the ferrule can be positioned by the master ferrule. The tool body 11 has a protruding locking piece to lock the movable head 9 to keep the butted state of the master ferrule and the ferrule. The movable head 9 is provided with an unlocking lever 94 to release locking by the locking piece.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a test method for optical fiber connector end face for testing for the presence of deposits, using infrared close to the signal wavelength region of an optical fiber.
SOLUTION: The test method for the optical fiber connector end face visibly indicates an image of the connector end face through a controller 230 and a display 240, by having infrared rays near the signal wavelength region of the optical fiber 120 irradiated from the side of the optical fiber connector end face 100 connected with the optical fiber 120 and monitoring the reflection light with a receiver 220. In this manner, the presence of a deposit having the possibility of being overlooked in a test for visible light can be tested and captured using infrared rays which are near the actual optical fiber signal wavelength.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To strongly detain an optical fiber cord with Kevlar (R) into a sheet. SOLUTION: A portion extended outside the sheet of an optical fiber 2 wired inside the optical fiber sheet 11 is made into the optical fiber cord 8 having a structure in which a tension fiber 7 such as Kevlar (R) is inserted into a protective tube 4 with the optical fiber 2. An auxiliary sheet 12 is stuck on the optical fiber 2 wiring a lower sheet 1, the tension fiber 7 is arranged on the auxiliary sheet 12, and an upper sheet 1 is bonded thereon. The end 4a of the protective tube 4 is inserted into the sheet and fixed. Because the tension fiber 7 is detained by a layer different from the optical fiber 2, the problem caused by a mixed state with the thick optical fiber 2 that sufficiently strong adhesion is not obtained does not occur, thereby sufficiently strong adhesion and fixing are obtained. In wiring the optical fiber 2, there is no risk to cause a problem such as the bending of the optical fiber 2 affected by the tension fiber 7.
