    • PURPOSE: To enhance the abrasion resistance of slide protruding parts by supplying a thermoplastic resin to the nip between a roll mold having scale patterns provided to the peripheral surface thereof and a roll to transfer the scale patterns and providing the slide protruding parts so as to hold the scale patterns therebetween. CONSTITUTION: A stamper 8 is fixed to the surface of a stamper roll 2 and a first roll 1 is arranged in opposed relation to the stamper roll and a large number of scale patterns for an optical scale are formed to the surface of the stamper 8. A molding material is extruded to the nip between the first roll 1 and the stamper roll 2 from a T-die 4. Whereupon, the scale patterns are transferred to the surface of the stamper 8. At this time, an easy slide material is supplied only to the parts corresponding to the slide protruding parts of the scale patterns on the stamper 8 from a dispenser 5 through nozzles 6 and integrated with the molding material to form the slide protruding parts. This optical scale sheet 7 is fed by a third roll 3 and cooled to be punched to obtain individual optical scales.

    • PURPOSE: To produce a substrate for optical recording medium stably with low birefringence and high transfer rate by controlling the molding conditions such that the line pressure of a resin, held between a first mirror face roll and a stamper roll, is sustained at a predetermined level. CONSTITUTION: A first mirror face roll 5 is pressed against a second roll (stamper roll) 6 by the hydraulic pressure of hydraulic cylinders 3, 4 with output sensors A, B. In this regard, the force of the hydraulic cylinders 3, 4 minus the force of gap regulating members 1, 2 With pressure sensors A, B act continuously between the first mirror face roll and the second roll 6. The line pressure being applied to a resin at the time of molding is determined by dividing the differential force by the width of a resin sheet.
