摘要： Cardiac apparatus and methods of using such cardiac apparatus are described. In one embodiment, a cardiac apparatus includes a covering that is configured to at least partially encircle a heart with a first portion of the covering adjacent to a second portion of the covering. The cardiac apparatus also includes an electroactive polymer actuator. A first end of the electroactive polymer actuator is coupled to the first portion of the covering, and a second end of the electroactive polymer actuator is coupled to the second portion of the covering. The second end of the electroactive polymer actuator is oriented such that, upon actuation of the electroactive polymer actuator, the second end of the electroactive polymer actuator extends away from the first end of the electroactive polymer actuator to move the second portion of the covering towards the first portion of the covering.

摘要： An ablation catheter that includes radially disposed inflatable chambers is provided. The ablation catheter includes an elongate catheter body and an electrode structure mounted on the distal end of the catheter body. The electrode structure includes a plurality of radially disposed inflatable chambers. The elongate catheter body may be composed of an inner shaft having an inner shaft lumen, a stiffening mandrel disposed within the inner shaft lumen, and an outer shaft having an outer shaft lumen, wherein the inner shaft is disposed within the outer shaft lumen. The outer shaft includes a plurality of inflation lumens in communication with the interior regions of the inflatable chambers, which deliver an inflation medium to the inflatable chambers. The inner shaft includes a plurality of lumens that house electrical leads for delivering ablation energy to the electrode structure.

A plurality of holes are located in the circumferential region of the elastomeric non-conductive body and a conductive elastomeric material covers the holes and forms one or more conductive regions adapted to transmit electrical current received from the electrically conductive fluid medium through the plurality of holes to adjacent body tissue.

摘要： The present invention relates to a combination device comprising two catheters, or a dual catheter assembly, for use in vascular procedures wherein the shaft of the first catheter functions as a guidewire for the second catheter. The dual catheter assembly comprises a first balloon catheter and a second balloon catheter wherein the second balloon catheter is slidably disposed on the shaft of the first balloon. In preferred embodiments, the first catheter is a low profile balloon on a wire catheter and the second catheter is a full size balloon catheter having a plurality of balloons mounted thereon. Optionally, a stent is carried by at least one of the balloons on the second catheter. In more preferred embodiments, the second catheter includes a manifold that may be used to inflate and deflate any combination of the plurality of balloons via a single port. The dual catheter assembly of the present invention is especially useful in vascular procedures such as angioplasty, progressive/multiple angioplasty, and stent delivery.
