    • A clutch device includes a sleeve-shaped first drive member, a first seal member, a second seal member, a plug, a second drive member, and a control member. The fist drive member, the first seal member and second seal member cooperate to form a sealed chamber filled with hydraulic liquid. The plug divides the sealed chamber into a first chamber and a second chamber, and the plug defines a screw hole and an opening communicating the first chamber with the second chamber respectively. An output shaft is extended from the plug. The second drive member is driven by the first drive member, and includes a screw shaft threadedly engaged with the screw hole of the plug. The control member is configured for covering or uncovering the opening of the plug. The clutch device is used for prevent overload.

    • A clutch arrangement for rapid disengagement of two elements in a transmission system when a chosen torque is exceeded. The first element is a conical shaft end that carries a corresponding sleeve which, in turn, carries externally at its ends two mutually separated ball bearings with a force transmission ring disposed therebetween. The second element, an annular force transmission body, surrounds and is carried by the ball bearings and includes a pressurisable hydraulic chamber which, when pressurised, causes a reduction in the inner surface diameter of the body so that the body is brought into force transmitting engagement with the outer surface of the ring. The sleeve carries a dogging element which is adapted to act on an element carried by the body for depressurising the hydraulic chamber upon relative rotation between the body and the sleeve such that, when the chosen torque is exceeded resulting in the relative rotation, the chamber is depressurised, and the ring and the body pass free from each other.

    • An overload protector is provided which is secured to a robot arm and a tool to protect the tool form being overloaded or forced into an abnormal position. A rocker assembly is located within the cavity in the protector and the cavity is pressurized in order to force a wall of the rocker assembly into a sealing relationship with a wall of the cavity. The rocker assembly has a peripheral wall in which a number of semi-conical detents are formed in the wall of the cavity. The detents are accommodated in the recesses when the rocker assembly is in a sealing relationship with the cavity wall. When the tool is overloaded or forced into an abnormal position the rocker assembly rocks in the cavity with resulting leakage of fluid from the cavity and a drop of pressure. A pressure switch detects that drop and signals the robot to stop.

    • An overload coupling includes at least one latch plunger housed in a holder or in a coupling member, fits in a recess of a second member to establish connection. The plunger has or is part of a hydraulic system and can be forced out of the recess upon overload against the hydraulic pressure in the system and, in some instances, with the aid of centrifugal forces. The plunger and holder can be part of a unit that is releasably fastened in the coupling member and set to trip upon torque exceeding a predetermined level on the coupling member. Also, the plunger can have internal ducts or external conduits that include a pressure relief valve, as well as a spring return, which can effect connection upon reduced speed when centrifugal force factors are reduced. The pressure in the system can be set remotely with a piston that is spring loaded. In one variation, the coupling can be within a planetary gear system that establishes driving connection from an input to an output via planetary and sun gears. Thus, the planetary gears can be mounted on a carrier that can be held by a plunger to drive a p.t.o. shaft. Two sets of planetary gears can be mounted within the gear housing to drive the p.t.o. shaft at different speeds and a common plunger used to establish either connection. As part of the system, a distributor can selectively engage either system and a switching member set to allow fluid to pressure the system to a predetermined level.
