    • A device for the control of gas exchange valves in an internal combustion engine is disclosed, comprising a hydraulic valve actuator (11), provided for each gas exchange valve, with an actuator piston (13) acting on the gas exchange valve and two hydraulic working chambers (121, 122), defined by the actuating piston (13), of which the first working chamber (121), which pressurises the gas exchange valve in the closing direction, is permanently filled with a pressurised fluid and the second working chamber (122), which pressurises the gas exchange valve in the opening direction, may alternately be filled with and drained of pressurised fluid, by means of two electrically-operated control valves (25, 26). According to the invention, cost may be reduced whereby a single first electrical control valve (25) is provided for each valve actuator pair (11a, 11b), which is pressurised on the inlet side with the fluid pressure and is connected on the outlet side to the second working chamber (122) of the one valve actuator (11a). The fluid filling of the second working chamber (122) of the other valve actuator (11b) is carried out by means of a switching valve (29) and the fluid pressure in the second working chamber (122) of the one valve actuator (11a).
