    • A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines which has a supply volume adjusting mechanism, being adjustable via a starting lever, an adjusting lever, and a tensioning lever. The starting lever is supported on the tensioning lever via a starting spring, and at non-operation of the engine, the starting spring is supported on a lever stop. To set the optimum amount of fuel to be injected at starting of the engine, which must be reduced at hot start, as opposed to a cold start, the lever stop is forcibly coupled with the adjusting lever such that the lever stop is moved by a swivel movement of the adjusting lever from a first end position to a second end position with the end positions being arranged so that the lever stop forces a starting lever position which in the first end position sets an amount of fuel on the supply volume adjusting mechanism as required for the hot start, and in the second end position, the lever stop sets an amount of fuel as required for the cold start.

    • A fuel injection pump of the distributor type in which a pump piston is driven to reciprocate and rotate simultaneously, thereby acting as a distributer. For fuel injection quantity regulation, an annular slide that is displaceable on a pump piston is provided, by way of which the pump work chamber can be relieved. To attain a low injection rate in the idling range, in addition to a first outlet opening, controlled by an upper edge of the annular slide, second outlet openings axially offset from the first are provided, for a relief conduit of the pump work chamber which cooperate with a radial control opening, which communicates with the pump suction chamber and is disposed in the wall of the annular slide. In the opening direction of this control opening, a groove provided with a throttle is provided, by way of which during idling operation, prior to the opening of the first relief opening, fuel can flow out of the pump piston in order to decrease the pumping rate of the pump piston. For higher load ranges, the control opening is moved out of the operative range of the groove which is effected by rotating the annular slide or interrupting the communication of the control opening with the suction chamber.

    • A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines is described, which for controlling fuel quantity is provided with control unit that controls an electric final control element, which in turn actuates the regulating member that determines the fuel injection quantity per pump piston supply stroke. The supply of fuel to the pump work chamber is effected from a fuel supply chamber, which is kept at a controlled pressure by a fuel feed pump. To limit the maximum speed of the engine supplied by the fuel injection pump in the event of failure of the control unit, a valve is provided in the intake line of the fuel feed pump. Using this valve, the flow cross section of the intake line can be varied or closed. By means of the modification of the fuel pressure in the fuel supply chamber effected thereby, a control of the fuel injection quantity that is not dependent on the position of the quantity-determining member is attained.

    • In the pump work chamber of a fuel injection pump, the main fuel delivered by a first metering valve is admixed with at least one further additional fluid by means of a second metering valve via a second inflow conduit. The two metering valves inserted into the inflow conduits and being electromechanically actuatable receive control pulses (I.sub.Z1, I.sub.Z2) dependent on operating characteristics (n, T, S, L) from an electric control unit. By means of the metering into the pump work chamber, the respective amounts of the fuel components are very well mixed or emulsified and pumped to the injection nozzle. The electric triggering of the metering valves enables a rapid adaptation from one stroke to another of the mixture ratio of the various fuel components to the instant operating condition of the internal combustion engine. A particularly advantageous feature is the use of a refill reservoir receiving the return-flow fuel quantity diverted at the end of supply and returning it to the pump work chamber before the next subsequent supply stroke begins, this refill chamber being connected to an overflow conduit controlled by an oblique control edge on the pump piston.

The fuel quantity meter is embodied as a spring-loaded piston-type fuel quantity meter and has a travel receptor which generates an electrical output signal and delivers it to a control member of the exhaust gas recirculation system for varying the recirculated exhaust gas quantity accordingly.

    • A fuel injection apparatus (FIG. 1) for internal combustion engines is proposed, in which the onset and end of injection are determined by means of a hydraulically actuated control slide. The injection pumps of the apparatus, preferably combined with an injection nozzle to make a pump/nozzle unit, have a central control fuel source represented by a supply pump and a first pressure limitation valve, which generates a control pressure (p.sub.S) actuating the control slide which is several times greater than the supply pressure (p.sub.V) determined by a second pressure limitation valve. In order to initiate the onset of injection, the control slide is placed under control pressure (p.sub.S) by a valve assembly via a distributor apparatus and closes an overflow channel leading out of the pump work chamber. In order to control the end of injection, the control slide during its return stroke again relieves this overflow channel toward a low-pressure line. The control pressure (p.sub.S) in the control pressure line required for actuating the stroke movement of the control slide is established by means of blocking the outflow out of this line by means of the valve assembly.
